Posh Pod, hotel in Tyndrum

Posh Pod is situated in Tyndrum. With free private parking, the property is 45 km from Inveraray Castle and 49 km from Massacre of Glencoe. All units in the campground are fitted with a TV.

Friendly campsite with tents, pods etc in a good location for hiking and seeing the beautiful highlands. Showers and loos were clean. We forgot to bring bedding for the pod but were able to hire it. It was a bit hot in the pod as there is only one small window to the front (very high temps of 25 degrees at the time) but apart from that we were comfortable and the staff were helpful.

Chalet, hotel in Tyndrum

Located 49 km from Massacre of Glencoe, Chalet provides accommodation in Tyndrum. Free WiFi is available throughout the property and Inveraray Castle is 45 km away. The chalet also offers 1 bathroom.

It was a great solution to a shortage of accommodation on the West Highland Way we used the bus to take us back from glencoe on the first day then back again on the second. And great to be self contained and relaxed in our own space. My advice would be to use this accommodation for 3 nights, if you are doing the WHW as you can get the bus from the previous nights stop over as well, and save you carrying as much gear

Clifton Cottage B&B, hotel in Tyndrum

Clifton Cottage B&B offers accommodation in Tyndrum. Free WiFi is available and free private parking is available on site. A flat-screen TV, as well as a CD player are provided.

A small walk across the road from the Green Welly brings you to the Clifton Cottage Bed and Breakfast (not a hotel) where you will find a warm welcome from Carmen and Tam . After walking for most of the day from Kingshouse on the west highland way . Clifton was a welcome sight indeed. An opportunity to get rest in a comfortable bed and finally get my clothes washed at the midway point . As Carmen said “Dont suffer in silence ,just ask if you need anything “ The washing is what I needed and within a matter of hours I had all my dirt clothes cleaned and dried ready for the big miles day to Kingshouse . Nothing was a hassle and the welcome I revealed was very nice from both Carmen and Tam. Make sure to read the black book in the room for some great history and advise on what is available locally and information on munros,Scot’s History and of course the West Highland Way . The room has all the tea an coffee facilities you need a few sweet treats a small fridge full of water and juices and fresh milk none of that UHT nonsense extra pillows smart tv decent shower and extra pillows . Breakfast was fantastic as they both knew I had a big walk ahead of me a very large bowl of porridge, coffee ,fruit juices and a fry sent me on my way. Oh and the hosting was great too all good craic with both Carmen and Tam . Remember this is a bed and breakfast not a hotel there is a difference for me the service was the difference a far more pleasant and personal experience a d a good night’s sleep.

Bridge of Orchy Hotel, hotel in Tyndrum

The Bridge of Orchy hotel sits on the A82 which is the main route to the Highlands and Islands of Scotland.

The rooms were nice, clean and had enough space for the luggage. Crisps and cookies were free and daily refilled. The bathroom was modern and the shower worked well. The view from the terrace to River Orchy great. Free car park. The waiters in the restaurant were very friendly and also funny (in a positive sense). Food in the restaurant was okay.

I have stayed only one night.

I have stayed only one night. It´s a cosy place in the middle of beautiful nature, perfect spot to start a day-long track. I loved the size of the village, location and the little stream. Right on the west highland way and accessible by train as well. There was a shop, and a variety of accomodation possibilities.

Tyndrum has good facilities for the tourist and traveller, with a choice of good eating places and two shops. The location is perfect because you can get in any direction by car, train or bus - this is almost unique in the Highlands and makes it ideal for walkers, sightseers and anyone who enjoys the countryside.

Tyndrum is a lovely village with hotels, cafes, a few shops & fuel pumps. The Green Welly shop cafe is worth a visit for local fare like Cullen skink & clootie dumpling. The surrounding area is beautiful and Glen Orchy is worth a visit, its 6 miles from Tyndrum on the Fort William road. The Ben Muthu Hotel is an excellent base for touring.

Tyndrum has one pub, a few hotels, petrol station, a few places to eat and a shop. It is just a pit stop for you or to crash after a hike. Restaurant was nice and friendly, but you'd get bored if you stay there longer than two days. BUT....if you are going for a hike or two then it is lovely. People are really nice.
