The place is lovely, clean and their restaurant has great food. The location is great to discover the area such as the Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove Beach, Lulworth Castle, Cerne Abbas Giant or Badbury Rings. It worth to visit the Sculpture by the Lakes as well. Fantastic bonus that hey have electric car chargers in their parking lot, so you can just plug in for the night and off to explore next morning :) Highly recommend the place!

We really enjoyed the ambiance of the tea room & its history. We were overwhelmed with our room with its period style furniture & tapestry. Deb was a fabulous host with lots of charm and charisma. Our breakfasts were delicious with plenty of variety, including a cooked breakfast with pastries, fruit and yoghurt. A truly wonderful place to stay. Definitely recommend.

Dorchester has the feel of a small town with many delightful...
Dorchester has the feel of a small town with many delightful old buildings, cafes, pubs and restaurants, all seemingly selling good food. There are many museums in and around the town centre, often easy to get to on foot. There is Roman history here, medieval too, a long military heritage and of course the dinosaurs of the famous Jurassic coast. Too many things to do in just one weekend, and many more attractions only a short car-drive away. The shops? - Well we never had time to explore them!

The Dorchester Museum is excellent.
The Dorchester Museum is excellent. We called in just to find out about the Iron Age fort and ended up learning so much more. Everything is very clearly displayed and explained in enough detail, but not too much. There are some remarkable Roman mosaics, a good overview of a fascinating history of the area, and an interesting section about Thomas Hardy. We were there in cold, wet February weather, so outdoor activities didn’t suit the weather. At different times of the year the outdoor activities in the area have great promise.

We only went for my cousin wedding at the towns registry office, that was a very good experience. We had intended to look around the town on the following day but the weather was so foul we travelled back home.
The town for what we saw had some wonderful historical building, and we would have liked to explored more

An important county town, oozing history, good restaurant...
An important county town, oozing history, good restaurant options and fine shops. The Council provides helpful parking. The District Hospital was one of the best NHS performers I have experienced, thankyou. Don't miss the museum.
I had the best sleep ever!
Beautifully clean; exceptionally comfortable (especially the bedding); well maintained and tasteful decor. The room had everything that I required: it was well equipped with lovely soap; body lotion; hair dryer; kettle and a well-stocked refreshments tray etc. staff were very welcoming and friendly. Communal areas were inviting and there was even a library.
I was staying for work and the hotel was much welcomed at the end of the day. I have already re-booked for another two visits.
Fern Cottage is not just an ordinary B & B - it's far beyond that - can call it 'RETREAT' if you like. The environment is so therapeutic - wonderful scenes, greenery, open landscapes all around. What about their super - size, help yourself breakfast and a humble host who enjoys to be of service to her Clients. It was my first visit but most of the guest I met there were returning back for a number of times. It's just few miles from Dorchester in Dorset - Pindletrenthide I will be back, for sure!!!!!
Charming small hotel, so beautifully decorated. Our room was very comfortable. Easy walking access to shops, town walks, and busses (we enjoyed taking the Jurassic Coaster busses to Lyme Regis, West Bay, Weymouth). Breakfast wasn't included in our booking but we added it on once there, very good value. Make sure to try the apple juice! Room had a portable fan which helped keep the room comfortable. The proprietor was very kind, offered many good suggestions for dining, sights, etc.
This was our second stay at the King's arms and we absolutely love it. The location is fantastic, parking included. Food is good quality and the hotel itself has a lovely warm and cosy feeling. Definitely will come back. We went for a special occasion and they gave us a brownie to celebrate this which was a nice touch. They were very accommodating about meal times and happy to give suggestions for things to do if asked. Lots of history all around it which is lovely, great location.
Everything at this hotel was fab! Loved our room (at rear with view of garden), bed was firm and comfy with lovely decor as was the hotel per se. Food, again was excellent with local produce, and extra attention to detail. Host is ultra helpful; parking, local food and tourist recommendations etc. If you are sociable and like good food this is the the hotel for you. If we are visiting Dorchester in the future, we will definitely be staying here again.
We stayed in one of the family rooms which was very spacious. There were two rooms, one with a double and the other two singles. It was clean, with crisp white sheets and very comfortable beds.
The breakfast was delicious as well as the food in the evening. The staff were very friendly and helpful and we loved the location in a pretty village, lovely countryside but also a stones through from Dorchester.
Thoroughly recommend!
Stayed here for 2 nights. Only 5 mins from Dorchester and 25 mins from Weymouth.
It is a wonderful place-a beautiful Hotel with amazing views, quiet, wonderful staff, amazing breakfast with lots of options, large bath towels, bedroom large and was 100% clean and COVID safe,
gorgeous gardens and can sit out, homemade choc brownies and water complimentary in the room.
Highly recommend
Tip-you can order fresh milk from front desk,
The hotel was very welcoming and staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel was situated very centrally, everything was in good walking distance, perfect location.
The room was stunning and exceeded the photos online. It was especially nice to have working windows (plenty of fresh air) so that we could regulate the temperature of the room.
The bed and bedding were perfect and we both had a wonderful nights sleep.
We were very impressed with our stay and found the staff & facilities met our expectations, to include top marks for the monetary value of our stay. We will certainly stay again at this hotel when we next venture into Dorset. We loved learning about the history of the area and the reason why the hotel is called The Rivers Arms. We wish the owners the very best of fortune with their hotel.
The owner was very friendly and welcoming. My room was perfect and the bed was so comfortable and there were great fluffy good quality towels in the bathroom too! The breakfast was delicious. Westwood House is positioned well on the Highstreet and you can walk to the shops or to the river easily. Highly recommend staying here and I will the next time I’m in Dorchester.
Fantastic B&B, the best bed we have ever slept in...
Great position on the outskirts of Dorchester, close to a shop
The hosts are excellent and friendly. A very tasty breakfast and set up in a way you talk to other guests. We slept in one of the lodges to the rear which was exceptional, clean and tidy.
All the best for the future Gary
Stunning Hotel, the building is beautiful, the room was similarly excellent. Clean, spacious and tastefully decorated. Tea, coffee and other facilities were well provided. Staff were really welcoming and helpful. The location is fantastic, short journey into Dorchester and Weymouth. I'd certainly recommend anyone to stay.
The refurbishment of the hotel has been very successful, it is much better in every way than the last time we visited. The staff are very helpful and friendly; the food is great; the rooms are comfortable and clean. It's central location makes it ideal for exploring Dorchester.
We loved the quirky style of the property and it’s size. As a family of 5, there was plenty of space, and all rooms were a decent size. Dorchester is a perfect spot for exploring the coast in Dorset too.
It felt like a home away from home.
The Greyhound is in the gorgeous small Dorset village of Sydling St Nicholas (not in the town of Dorchester!). We were there to walk a section of the Wessex Ridgeway so the location was perfect for us!
Our room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was sufficient to set us up for the day. The Inn is in a quiet hamlet outside Dorchester and as such is centrally situated for touring Dorset.
