San Sebastian is a beautiful, historic town. There is much history to learn (we had a private guide for this) along with all the beauty it offers We took the funicular up to the top of Mt. Urgull and walked along the Ondarreta beach from our dinner one night. We could have stayed several more days to go through the museum and just wander through the entire town, not just the Old Town. We were there 3 nights and easily could have added 2 more.

There was a bike ride that finished in the centre the day we stayed so it was very busy which added to the experience. Parking was not easy ,they give you very little room in the parking bays in the underground parking and forget about parking on the streets! We were there on a Sunday.
Loads of tapas bars to choose from. I would have liked to shop but not a lot open ,but it was a Sunday after all!
Look up , the buildings are wonderful.

There are restraints nearby where you can eat delicious Pinchos, so it was quite easy to get to. It was incredibly quiet from night to morning. Yes, there was no noise at all. I never once felt like I was in an unsafe place.
Next time I'll try taking the bus.

San Sebastian is really a great city for views: you have 2 mountains accessible on foot with great views on the bay (concha), the city and the ocean. There is also nice architecture (Art Nouveau), a great basque history/art museum (San Telmo) and a maritime museum with an aquarium.
And there is a great beach for surfing (Zurriola). So on the boulevards you can see side by side a surfer with surfboard and a very smartly dressed couple walking toward the Kuursaal.

Parks and beaches are beautiful.
Parks and beaches are beautiful. Food at some bars and restaurants is phenomenally good! I didn’t have time to visit museums, but I expect they are up to the quality of other aspects of public life. And people on the street and in the bars seemed to be enjoying themselves a lot. (Although everyone seems to love a holiday weekend.)

The city is pretty and clean.
The city is pretty and clean. The food is excellent and varied leaning heavily to sea food. It is easy enough to walk around, there is taxi service for some of the attractions not downtown e.g. the stadium. Let me say, however, it is not as inexpensive as other places in Spain. Food can be pricey, especially some of the sampling meals in the restaurants. My Spanish is pretty okay, but, believe me Basque is not at all similar, fortunately, most menus, etc. are written in Spanish, French and English as well. The people are friendly and will work with you.
It is literally "Central" room! In the middle of old town square. Room was well designed with its bathroom inside. Nice and cosy. There is no noise issue if you close both windows and make room dark at night by closing the outside shaders. A lot of restaurants just when you get out of the door. I can say it is good for alone or couples for a city exploring tourism.
But not the best place if you come here for swimming, you need to walk 10-12 minutes at least, if you bother this you need to take hotels near by the seaside.
Centrally located directly in the old town of San Sebastián / next to Aquarium/ beach. Nice lobby - staff very welcoming & helpful. Beach Town service. Roof Top Terrace with great scenic view: on beach, mountain, ocean. Nice restaurant/cafe in the hotel for coffee or snacks. Nice interior of the hotel and the rooms. 24 h room service (I did not make use of it though). We booked transfer service from Bilbao Airport: everything went smooth and nice quality (car/driver).
We loved staying in the lovely old building, much nicer than 4 star hotels, more a boutique hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. We were very lucky with the weather so could swim opposite the hotel. A beautiful walk in to the old town at night for tapas, with the see on our left and very attractive architecture to our right. We liked everything and will return.
It was in a great location, lovely cafés for breakfast/lunch also some nice boutiques around.
Hotel was built about 2-3 years ago. So it was so clean, new and luxurious. the staffs were friendly and always helpful. Also Narru, Michelin guide rated restaurant was AWESOME. food was beyond our expectation. Everything we ordered was superb. We loved so much that we went three times during our stay. It was best restaurant among Michelin restaurant we went in San Sebastian. I strongly recommend this hotel and restaurant.
OST is located immediately next to the train station which was ideal given we travelled from Barcelona to San Sebastián by train. The hotel was immaculately clean, our room was huge and the bed was very comfortable. It is some distance from the Old Town but it’s a comfortable and pleasant walk beside the river to get to the beach, bars and restaurants. The arrangement for breakfast is unusual and quirky but it works !!!
We were on a road trip from Paris to various cities in Spain and Portugal. We had stayed in 8 hotels by the time we arrived Tres Reyes, which turned out to be the most comfortable hotel. It was clean, fresh, modern, quiet, and reasonably priced. Front desk staff were friendly and multi-lingual. We wished we had stayed longer, and would love to come again before long.
The Hotel & Rooms were modern, spacious and comfortable. The location was excellent, right next to the old town, and an east walk from both beaches San Sebastián has to offer, as well as other neighbourhoods such as Gros. The staff were fantastic and provided great recommendations for restaurants etc - which were some of the best meals we ate on our whole trip!
New boutique hotel, a few minutes walk from old town and playa la concha beach so perfect for us. plus one of the very few hotels in old town where taxis can drive to.
hotel reception very friendly and attentive giving us their top recommendations for pintxos (out of the 140 plus) and where tourist attractions were on the map.
Great location to explore San Sebastián on foot. It’s a historic hotel that is really well maintained and was a joy to be in at Christmas time.
We were in a petit double room with ocean view. Don’t be fooled by the word petit. It was a regular hotel room with a really nice bathroom. :-)
It was a lovely five night stay.
GORKA is ideally located on sm park very close to old town, tapas bars, shopping and beach. GORKA is the nicest of the many Room Mate hotels I've used in Spain while similarly well-priced. The environment is luxurious. Staff in hotel and restaurant go the distance to make guests comfortable.
Although not in the old town of San Sebastian, this hotel is in a lovely area, just yards from the beach. A beautiful walk along the bay to get to the city centre, but the street the hotel is on has a great selection of bars, cafes and restaurants.
It was our second time at the Axel Hotel San Sebastian and it is overall a very good hotel. The location is good: close enough to the city center (15-20 minutes walk) but in a quiet neighborhood. The Spa included in the cost is really nice.
Very clean hotel and walkable to the beach . It's in a street with a lot of bars.. The service from the reception was excellent. The kitchen and dining areas are large with a lot of options . Over all an excellent place in San sebastian.
it’s a beautiful hotel, high standard, with gorgeous interior design. the hotel manager is lovely and very helpful. the location is very near the old town, and in a good neighbourhood. I recommend this as a classy and peaceful hotel!
wow- this was such an awesome and beautiful property to stay at! Relaxed, quite and elegant hotel. Its a very quick 5 min walk to the best neighborhoods and the beach area of San Sebastian, highly recommended
Great location just a few minutes walk to the old town and only 10 min walk from train station , coffee machine available which was great as a lot of places don’t even include coffee/tea facilities in Spain
