Villa Walton Bed & Breakfast offers accommodation within a historic homestead, established in 1904. From the first moment I parked, I felt comfortable and at-home in Neil and Sue's lovely spot. Both are top-class people, the type you want to hang out with. The property itself is perfection. Wild flowers, chirping birds, the smell of honey suckle in the air, all of nature accompanies your stay. I stayed in the Cottage, which offered nice privacy and lovely quarters, but each of their individual bedrooms in the main house are lovely as well. Breakfast, as many have said, was top-notch. From the property, the amenities, and the way they care, I couldn't ask for a better stay. I'll certainly be back.

What a beautiful place to stay. All the craftsmanship in the house is lovely to see and experience through the story's of the great hosts Jen and Dewi. They where very welcoming. The room was really nice tidy and clean, also the bathroom. We joined for diner with another guest and Jen and Dewi. This was really nice and relaxing. Great food and vibe all evening, with lovley conversations about similarities and differences between Dutch and Kiwi culture/life. We really enjoyed our stay and should actually stayed 2 or 3 nights. To explore the area a bit more. It is really a nice get a way place, we loved it! We will be back some day

Matamata Lodge is a recently renovated bed and breakfast in Matamata, where guests can make the most of its garden and barbecue facilities. This was a little gem - we booked it as it was close to Hobbiton without really paying too much attention to the facilities etc. upon arrival we were greeted by Glenn a great host who got us settled in and recommended things to do. Breakfast was superb home cooked and in the fridge just needed a quick blast in the microwave - delicious pancakes and fruit. Yogurt etc and the following fritters with bacon

Featuring a garden, pool with a view and inner courtyard views, Fantail Garden is located in Walton. Boasting luggage storage space, this property also provides guests with a children's playground. A perfect place to stay for far more than just one night. The owner is just amazing and this place is incredible. Everything is clean and you have a lot of space for yourself. I will definitely come back again. Thank you

Loved everything! Beautifully furnished! Quiet! Loved being waken by the sound of cows! Booked here to be close to Hobbiton! I would stay here again in a heartbeat! Excellent!

The Red Shed is a recently renovated guest house in Matamata, where guests can make the most of its garden and terrace. Loved the animals, really added to the experience, hosts even gave food to feed them. Also, the surrounding area was beautiful! Really nice host also.

House was large, well appointed and very quiet. The bed was firm and the most comfortable I had slept on during our trip. Location is convenient to town, with a car, and to Hobbiton. We enjoyed our one night's stay here.

Matamata Central Motel is a 20-minute drive from the Hobbiton Movie Set & Farm Tours, where parts of the Lord of the Rings trilogy were being filmed. Great size rooms and good facilities. Highly recommended
