A perfect place to stay for far more than just one night. The owner is just amazing and this place is incredible. Everything is clean and you have a lot of space for yourself. The Red Shed is a recently renovated guest house in Matamata where guests can make the most of the garden and terrace. Very spacious, clean, and comfortable, plenty of amenities (good water pressure in the shower was heaven after some other places we've stayed on our trip!). Quiet, peaceful area, a brisk walk from downtown. Excellent host who went out of her way to meet our needs. Cute alpacas were a bonus! Would absolutely stay here again.

Matamata Central Motel is a 20-minute drive from the Hobbiton Movie Set & Farm Tours, where parts of the Lord of the Rings trilogy were being filmed. Showers were excellent. Beds were super comfy. For a motel, it is certainly a lot more comfort than we had expected. Well done!
