Our expectations of Miami were high so we were disappointed. We did a bus and boat tour which were interesting. Overall, sadly we were underwhelmed by Miami. This was a road trip so after 2 nights we then went onto explore Florida and discovered some wonderful places outside of Miami.
I thought Miami Beach would be more "Beachy" but we found the beach itself a bit boring. So, we turned to the city for fun, and we found many great places to eat and hang out. The free trolley service made it easy to explore North, South, and all between. This is a great place for a few days, a bit unique from other places.
During my time in Miami, I soaked up the sun on the beautiful beaches, enjoying the soft sand and refreshing ocean breeze. The lively beach scene with beachfront cafes and water sports added to the excitement. Venturing into Everglades National Park was like stepping into a different world. The vast marshlands, mangrove forests, and abundant wildlife offered a glimpse into the natural wonders of Florida. I took a thrilling airboat tour, spotting alligators, birds, and other fascinating creatures along the way. Exploring Miami's diverse culture, from its vibrant art scene to its delicious culinary offerings, was a delightful experience. The city's energy, combined with the tranquility of the Everglades, made for a memorable and balanced trip.
The traffic is insane! We enjoyed our time in my Miami for a conference but the commute was so long. The weather and hospitality was so nice. The views of the ocean was breath taking creating a calmness in our soul. Thank you Miami for bringing beauty and rest in this wacko-doodle world of ours. Bev T
Miami has a vibrant cultural scene, beautiful beaches, and lively nightlife. Areas to visit are South Beach, the colorful Art Deco District and the eclectic street art of Wynwood Walls. I enjoyed the rich cultural tapestry of Little Havana, savoring authentic Cuban cuisine and lively ambiance.
This was my first time to Miami Beach. The art deco architecture did not disappoint me. Thank goodness there was a woman back in the '70s who decided to help preserve all of that architecture. There is a tribute to her on Ocean drive at the tourist building. The beach is huge and there is a wonderful strip Park that travels the entire length of the Miami Beach area that you can walk or jog or bicycle. There are numerous restaurants along Ocean drive or back one or two or three blocks. There's a huge pedestrian Mall shopping area in the northern part of South Miami Beach. It's very easy to get into the city. If you have a rental car, it's just a short drive. Then you can be in the design district or Wynwood. Our favorite restaurant was Puerto Saugua. Their prices were reasonable for this area and I think it was pretty authentic Cuban influenced food. I had a bowl of pork stew with rice and fried sweet plantain bananas. Incredible. There is also a trolley system that is free that can get you up and down the entire strip. Like many other cities in the country, Miami Beach has a homelessness problem. But we never felt unsafe anywhere that we went.
