Lovely mountain cabin that was clean and comfortable. Large kitchen and dining space along with lounge area heated by wood stove.
Each bedroom had comfortable bed and warm linens with wall heater and heated mattress pad.
Large wardrobe as well.
Wonderful big bathroom with great hot water and ceiling heating.
Lots of wood provided for wood stove.
Easy walk across street to Cradle Mountain Visitor Center.
We also walked to Devils @Cradle to see and learn about Tasmanian Devils.
Bring your groceries to cook in the lovely kitchen and in nice weather there is a back porch.
The area is beautiful and very quiet and private.
Lovely check in staff and you can purchase beer and wine at reception.
We loved our stay in the Currawong cabin.

Sean was a great host. The cabin was lovely and remote, but close to Cradle Mountain National Park and not too far from civilization.
The cabin was set up with practically everything we could have needed. Hot & cold breakfast items, and a whole lot of extra treats we did not expect but were stoked to receive.
Sean supplies Tassie products as much as he can, which is a bonus.
It was a great base from which to explore Cradle Mountain and the north west coast of Tassie.
Thanks Sean!
PS: Did I mention the pademelons? We were able to see a number of them, including our very own afternoon visitor.
We loved our visit to Cradle Mountain. Our first stop was the Devils @ Cradle sanctuary where we had an excellent tour guide who was very knowledgeable about the Tasmanian Devil and the Quolls at the sanctuary. We were able to see 5 Devils being fed. Though they looked cute, they had very sharp teeth and managed to tear through the meat and bones quickly. We then went on a bus trip to Dove Lake and were able to take some great photos. Would love to visit here again.

A wonderful place!
A wonderful place! Well worth visiting for its natural beauty, walks and wildlife. Also very well organised with shuttle around the park and to major walking tracks. Definitely worth visiting ng Waldheim for the history of the place

Love the walks at Cradle Mountain.
Love the walks at Cradle Mountain. We went to devils@cradel which was so interesting. Really recommend it but keep your hands out of the devil enclosures! Bring warm clothes - lots of layers is best. We were there end of Feb and it was cold at night and early morning. We had a wild wombat just amble by, eating as it went.

Shuttle buses run frequently to the shores of Dove Lake, making it a must-see mountain resort in Tasmania for easy day-hiking. It's also great to be able to see wombats up close around Ronny Creek. If you have a national park pass, you can buy a shuttle bus ticket valid for 72 hours for $15, so we recommend staying near the visitors centre for 3 to 4 nights.

A lot of walks have well maintained paths so most people can use them.
The scenery is fantastic but beware, be prepared, the weather can be very good one minute and cold and wet the next.
Pay for the shuttle bus, it makes life easier.

Cradle Mountain is a long way from Hobart.
Cradle Mountain is a long way from Hobart. Don't go the Queenstown route - it takes forever. Go via Launceston. The National Park is gorgeous. Use the boardwalk to hike up to the Creek. It's quiet and right there in the middle of the bush. We saw wallabies, birds and snakes. We hiked up to the Boat House and then used the shuttle bus back to the bus stop by our hotel. The shuttles are every 5-10 minutes. The rangers are great.

The place is a good option if the goal is to do a lot of hiking around the cradle mountain area. Good for kids with a lot of area to explore within the property. The Tavern was a good place to eat within the property. A special thanks to Andes who helped us in Tavern over our 3 day stay there. The cabins are very quiet and the view from the room is spectacular. As the property is right across the cradle mountain entrance, we don't loose any time and can start the treks quite early. Breakfast was decent with limited options.
From the moment we were greeted at the front desk to when we opened the door of our cabin, our experience was excellent. The pictures online don't do the cabins justice. It was spacious, well equipped and very comfortable. The wood burner kept the cabin cosy and having a drink in the afternoons on the verandah and being visited by the native fauna was also a highlight. The caretakers are brilliant to talk to and host very well. We will definitely stay here again next time we visit Cradle Mountain.
Located conveniently close to Cradle Mountain NP.
Check-in process seemless. Reception Staff were friendly, gave excellent service and made us feel genuinely welcome.
The fact that there was quite a well stocked area with a range of grocery items, including dairy and frozen goods, was a bonus for our travelling group.
The cabins were equipped with a very efficient heating system, which had been turned on prior to our arrival, to warm the rooms up.
Perfect location to go to the tazzie devil sanctuary, and catch the shuttle to dove lake to see cradle mountain. Free wifi in club house, non in rooms, no TV either no phone access . Wildlife active at night, saw devils, wombats and a platypus (in the hotel pond). Gas open fire in room, lovely and warm, beds comfy. Free washing machines and dryer.
Good location. Short drive to Cradle Mountain. Atmosphere was nice. Many common areas to congregate next to the fireplace and enjoy the tree view. There is a walking track that connects from the hotel.
Room was neat and tidy with all amenities provided. Breakfast and restaurant had good selections and big servings.
Cradle Mountain Lodge is so overpriced. We have stayed several times before and we missed the wood heaters, the range of activities, the general sense of camaraderie. The revamped cabins are disappointing, with mean little bathrooms. For the price we paid, there should be TV and wifi in the cabins.
The staff and location are excellent, set in bushland, it gets a wide range of wombats and pademelons during dawn and dusk. The whole place with its fireplaces and guest lounges is very welcoming at the end of the day hiking around Cradle Mountain. The food was generally good along with the bar.
Full kitchen with gas oven and cook top. Wood burning fireplace and heater makes for a very warm cabin. Electric blankets. Extensive DVD collection for rainy days. Cabins are private and comfortable. Located straight across the road from the information centre/ shuttle bus for cradle mountain.
Gorgeous setting and convenient to the park shuttle and to several trails practically just out the door.
The breakfast buffet was outrageously good with a wide selection of items to suit any taste.
The wallaby’s and wombats who visited each night were a special treat.
it was much fancier than I expected and extremely close to the entrance of cradle mountain national park.
I was so happy to have free self- serve laundry (they even had detergent) after a week of hiking! I also loved the fireplaces.
Self contained cabins set amongst bush. Private surrounds with only one other cabin in sight. Close to the visitors centre and shuttle into the park. Great restaurant and guest lounge with views to Cradle Mountain. Lovely staff.
Location of the Discovery Park, is its greatest advantage. Its quiet, peaceful and walking distance to cradle mountain visitor centre. Getting in and out of the lodge is vey easy. Cabins are big enough to host a family.
Had a lovely night in one of the cabins. The cabins are perfect and very comfortable. The location is also great as right across the road from visitor centre. Staff are also lovely and helpful.

Very comfortable cabins in beautiful surrounds right on the edge of Cradle Mountain national park. Self contained kitchen but also an excellent restaurant on-site
Beautiful spacious cabins with private bushland outlook. Great kitchen and gas heating. Best location for Cradle Mountain. Five minute walk to Information centre.
