The Star Wars museum was the reason to go to Monchengladbach...with 2 teenage kids who love star wars it was a great weekend.
The Hotel (Leonardo) was 5 minutes walk to the museum where we spent 2 hours looking at all the exhibits... some were better than others... bur the kids really enjoyed it. Afterwards we went to the big shopping center called Minto which was 8 .inutes walk from the museum. It is huge with many shops on 4 levels...a food court to suit every taste...again happy kids!!
On previous trips we were in Duisberg which has a fantastic free open air museum called landschaft... if you like industrial thing... or you have kids.. it is a perfect place and not roo far away (45 mins drive)...
Combining the star wars museum and landschaft is very doable in a weekend - even though we did it on different vacations.

I have friends in Rheydt which is a great little location. It has a great little market and always seems quite lively. Going towards the centre of Monchengladbach is worthwhile as you will find plenty of shops, loads of places to eat and drink and I would highly recommend Moshi Bar in Krichelstraße 22 for Sushi lovers.

Nice hotel. We went for a wedding that was in the stadium, so it was worth staying there. The room was well organised and the style was cool and modern. Comfy beds, nice shower and very spacious. Breakfast was nice and with a lot of variety of food. Staff was very helpful to help us when we arrived, booking a cab to go to the train station, etc. And it was not the case for us, but some of our friends arrived earlier than check-in time and the rooms were already ready and they could enter, which is positive.
Though I booked Novum Hotel initially, but I was given a room in their sister property, SELECT HOTEL, just 3-5 minutes walk. It appears much bigger and classy. Everything about Select Hotel is immaculate and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was topnotch and staff were friendly, responsive and respectful. EasyJet messed up my flight from the UK to Germany, via Amsterdam, and I had 48-hour delay. I reached out to Novum Hotel and they agreed to adjust my check-in date and charged me extra £25 which was okay.
The hotel is a bit dated (90ies style), but all in all in good condition. From what we saw one of the prettier places in Mönchengladbach. Location is good right next to a park and 10-15min from train station. Dinner was delicious. The room was very spacious and clean (the carpet is a bit worn, but we have seen worse). Staff in the dining room was so nice and friendly(!)
Location was right next to the central train station. Room was big, clean, and relatively quiet despite happenings outside. Bed was very comfortable for me. Staff was friendly and helpful. I was served with a generous German breakfast. Will definitely stay there again whenever I visit friends in Mönchengladbach!
Practical and friendly, good inner city hotel at decent price. Good buffet breakfast, lots of space.
Nice relatively private city view over rooves. There was a basic electric stove and fridge and microwave. V useful. Great teas and coffee on offer in room. Good large desk.
It’s on a quite place near some forest scene. Clean and solid building. Reception guy was good. And the staff was good too when we were having breakfast. We took a walk outside the hotel and the neighborhood and the area was nice too.
Those among the staff who are experienced have excellent skills at listening and accomodating the clients.
Here, you may not get the most modern or high tech hotel, but a hotel with warmth, kindness, courtesy and a service culture
Very spacious rooms, very accomodating hotel : Breakfast until 11am, check-out until 12.
Breakfast better than just "good" : Large choice, and food is good.
Spacious parking as well. All in all, a very good price for value.
Amazing hosts and beautiful room. So clean and tidy and spacious. Place is easy to find and perfect for what we needed it for (a night in Germany to watch Borrusia Monchengladbach play football)
The reception staff went above and beyond. First visit to Germany from the UK and for our sons 16th Birthday to watch the football. Friendly, helpful & the room was great. Fantastic stay
