The house was charming - historic, with beautiful entries, large hallways, and an attractive courtyard. The rooms were clean and very spacious. The bathrooms were pristine. The location was perfect - many shops and restaurants in the wonderful old part of the city are within a short walk.

It´s a cute little town on the North coast with a few local restaurants to choose from. The boulevard is great for some downtime and their public pool is famous amongst locals.
Many hiking fans start there day here to be closer to all the different hiking routes through the Anaga rural park. It´s a town with little sight seeing points of interest but it´s close to a few towns along the coastline.
All of these towns are great for visisting and exploring. I am a resident on the island and love to repeat my visit to Punta de Hidalgo every year. It has a nice mix of locals and tourists. It´s a way to unwind and explore nature while being on holiday.

The lovely Punta Paradiso house is definitely the best place to stay in the seaside village, and excellent if you enjoy peace and quiet and sea swimming in the natural pools. Limited choice of places to dine as it is a small place, and the excellent ( but expensive! ) Oceano Hotel is not open to non-residents for meals so choice is limited to the few local restaurants all quite good but simple and unsophisticated. Take the walk out to the famous lighthouse and on past the Piscina Charco de la Arena which also has a good cafe/restaurant and possibility of swimming for 5 Euros at low tide only! Walk further on the coastal path past the little chapel and onto Chinamada if you have the energy! The local Piscina Altagay is also very good with showers and one can swim for 5 Euros. Watch the sunsets each evening on the promenade by La Caleta restaurant where locals gather. Sunrise behind Mt. Teide is also worthwhile seeing at breakfast.

Its not big, but its perfect spot if you want to enjoy the ocean, swim (it has public swimming pool), and walk around. Dont use the restaurant close to the port - its not very good. Punta del Hidalgo is perfect starting point, if you want to go to Anaga Reserve.

Punta del Hidalgo is absolutely stunning.
Punta del Hidalgo is absolutely stunning. It's closeby the anaga forest area and a short drive to many many rocky shores, secluded beaches, tranquil towns, and breathtaking mountain vistas.
I prefer this much much much more over the hot and dry tourist areas down south.
At time, while watching the sunsets from the natural saltwater pools, I was wondering if I had passed and ended up in heaven already.

I am a keen swimmer and walker. So my main interests were:
1) swimming in Bajamar "natural" (= seawater) swimmint pools. There also is one in Punta del Hidalgo itself, but not as good.
2) walking along the trails which start from / end to Punta del Hidalgo. The main one is track TF 10, which connects Punta del Hidalgo to Mirador Cruz del Carmen. It is extremely spectacular, and both ends are very well connected trough public transport. So once you complete the track (about 10 km. long, taking a good 4 hours if you want to enjoy it and look around) you can go back by bus.

Easy to get around, small town so everything is within walking distance, 2.5 hours from TFS airport, but simple enough to get there. Buses in Tenerife are usually on time. Try any of the local restaurants, full of fresh seafood. Gorgeous hike from Punta del Hidalgo to Mirador Aguaide/ Chinamada 5-7 hours in total depending on how many stops you take! Wonderful - non touristy area, just what I wanted!
