Everything as described, or even better. There was even a dishwasher and, even though it was not published as a possibility, there was a foldable baby cot. The apartment is only a couple of hundred meters from the city centre, where there is also a supermarket that is open until 21.00. For the parking, we found a spot directly in front of the apartment and it was free of charge.

The owner has transformed an old townhouse into a gem with modern amenities renovating the old things, where possible. Very charming and lovely.
The breakfast is certainly not typically French and fulfills every need. Plenty to eat and drink!
The staff is very friendly and really helpful. You name it and she tries to fulfill your wish, if it is at all possible.
One walks appr. 7 minutes to the center and in ca. 45 min around this pittoresk city. It is much nicer than depicted in the Chtˋi movie. Certainly worth a trip. We certainly will come back to "Phillipine" and Bergues.

Bergues is just 15 mins from Dunkirk, and we always stay there for our first or last night when travelling to or hrough France. It is a typical French town with a large square, at least two large churches and a bell tower - all seen in a famous French comedy called Bienvenu Chez les Ch'tis. But there are also canals and old fortifications which make for a pleasant and varied walk to whet the appetite ... for cheese! Le Bruegel is our long-time favourite, but be sure to book ahead - last time we didn't and couldn't get in, so we went to La Boustifaille, which was just as good. If all else fails, there's a nice creperie, a couple of friendly bars and a boulagerie in the square, and a friterie (that also sells biere) open till late ...

Lovely place!
Lovely place! Quiet place (we were there on a Sunday though), but beautiful to walk around. In fact you can walk everywhere there. It was great as a weekend getaway, but you can go as a spring-board stop traveling further into France, or on the way back to Britain. We ate and stayed at Bienvenu Chez Nous, which was fabulous. There was plenty of on street parking, but beware the one way system when driving in and out of the town. It's not so much a town for children, but for couples it's a great place. There's also lots of boulangeries/patisseries/cute shops. We want to come back.

Bergues is a very small town but full of character, lovely buildings and quite a few restaurants. The restaurant at which we ate, La Boustifaille, was excellent, very busy and typically French with food prepared on their own fire, delicious and very reasonably priced.
It is easy to find your way around Bergues, but as we were only there overnight we did not have time to see all the old fortifications around the town. Clearly a lot of the buildings have been rebuilt after the war, including the very impressive belfry in the main square, but all in the old style.
Bergues would make a great base if you're touring the local area but also ideal for a one or two night stay. It seems a thriving little town with a really nice atmosphere . Definitely recommended if you get the chance to visit.

A very interesting old walled town with good restaurants and a wonderful cheese shop. It is very convenient for the Dunkirk (DFDS) ferry especially if like us you have had a long drive before crossing the channel.

We only learnt of Bergues by word-of-mouth despite passing by over many years. An interesting small town, watery with river on the outside and canal inside. Easy to explore in an afternoon, a few bars in the centre, excellent stop-over choice to or from the ferry ports.

Full of cafes, bars, and restaurants.
Full of cafes, bars, and restaurants. Excellent tourist office (shut 12-2) to guide you in town or surrounding Flanders area. Beautiful walled town ideal for strolling round. Railway stn on dunkerque - lilles line. So much to do in the local area; planetarium, parc gelame outdoor leisure and pool in loon plage, parc de l'aa watersports in gravelines, ww2 museum in dunkirk, ypres flanders fields ww1 museum, parcour gravelines. A real gem of a town with unspoilt local character.
My second time staying here, it's a lovely hotel in Bergues.
The location is next to a church with parking and a short 5 minute walk to the town square. The hotel is ideal for a stopover for the ferry. Bergues itself is a lovely historic town with bars and restaurants. The hotel has a nice bar and restaurant.
As a solo traveller (this time) the rooms are great with a generous amount of space and a nice bathroom. Bed is really comfy. Everything was clean.
Highly recommended hotel.
The hotel is only 40 odd minutes from the ferry and is an ideal place to stay after leaving the ferry for an onward journey.
We liked everything, the hostess was very friendly and showed us to our rooms before explaining about breakfast. The rooms were large and comfortable, the beds were also comfortable. Towels , shower gel etc were supplied, and tea & coffee were available in the rooms. Breakfast was great, with plenty to eat.
Excellent location for this accommodation, few minute by walk from several excellent restaurants, the city center and Bergues' main sightseeings. The size of the appartment fit well for 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 kids. Super friendly owners. this accomodation is pet friendly, Just let the owner know and bring you own cushion/blanket for your 4-legs buddy (the sofa is in fabric so extra care needed).
Perfect accommodation, beautiful, comfy, well-furnished and quiet.
the owners chose the high quality for all items available in this apartment: beds, kitchen equipment's, household linen....
Located in a great spot, in Bergues city center, close to all facilities and main sightseeing's (by foot!)
Safe and private parking lot
Pet friendly - with a great closed yard.
Perfect attic room with excellent shower and big, separate bath tub, nice comfy bed. Thanks to helpful, friendly Philippine for everything, including a hearty DIY breakfast. And Bergues is such an attractive and interesting little French town, with its Vauban ramparts and awesome abbey ruins. Good choices for food as well, though opening times are rather random.
We have stayed here several, times before its a little out of the way coming back from holiday in the Loire but its a nice hotel with comfy rooms and a good simple breakfast . We travel on to the tunnel from here in the morning so a good nights sleep is important .
Such an amazing house. We loved how all the old details were combined with the perfectly renovated parts.
Best looking hotel we have been in for sure.
Also the host was very friendly and the hygiëne was on point.
Would recomment it to everybody!
Lovely hotel in a peaceful location. The receptionist was extremely helpful. Large room with nice view of the church. Off-road and out of sight parking for our motorcycles was a bonus. Superb selection of foods at breakfast.
The interior design of the hotel is very impressive throughout. The staff are friendly and helpful. The tea-making room and the breakfast are highlights. Parking on the street is easy. Bergues is also a beautiful town.
Really interesting property, clean and comfortable. Very helpful and friendly owners. Great location, Bergues is a lovely town. Easy free parking outside or on road near to property. Nice continental breakfast.
My fourth time staying here at Au Tonnelier. Rooms always very clean and comfortable. It's an excellent stop off point via the channel ferries and Bergues is a very interesting town.
Breakfast was great, room was nice and service was excellent. Host contacted me to know the arrival time in English. Public parking is available close to the hotel.
