This a delightful chambre d'hote in a great location in Blaye. Hervé is the consummate artistic host and a gentleman. The place is beautifully decorated with both his art and others. His breakfast was outstanding. He makes delicious jams with loving care and even designs the labels. You will feel most comfortable here. We highly recommend.

Everything was wonderful, from the 1st impression on entering the gate, to the owner's personal warm welcome, to the large and beautiful room, as well as the charming chateau and grounds with heated pool - including secure on-site parking.
Breakfast and evening social time with owners (Stephane and Christine) were wonderful personal additions to the overall experience. The location is an easy walk from the town center on the riverfront with shops, restaurants and the citadel.

We booked on a very short notice. The host didn’t expect guests that night as they had other arrangements, they were surprised to see us at the door. They forgot to take the accommodation away from booking.com for the night. Happily they were at home. We were exhausted after driving for 12 hours. At it was really hot. They asked us to come back in 1 h after preparing the room. It was extremely unpleasant, but finally things turned out well. The hosts met us, were very nice and accommodating. No breakfast options. Nevertheless, they provided 2 croissants and 2 choco breads + two small orange juices. They were very much appreciated. The studio is very nice, decorated with taste. We stayed for one night, but it’s a good option for several nights if you wanna visit the area. We were on our way to Spain and just stopped for the night. The airco was a plus point.

Blaye is a pretty historic town and with a good market on Wednesday. There are quite a few things to see and do in the area, including the magnificent Citadel. This area is well known for the Royal Marine Comandos, the "Cockleshell Heroes" of the Second World War, to whom we paid our respects for their epic journey by kayak on the Gironde and their mission, "Operation Frankton" to Bordeaux. We will be back to explore more another time.

Blaye is very conveniently located on the Gironde.
Blaye is very conveniently located on the Gironde. The ferry, which crosses the estuary, crosses frequently. There are plenty of excellent places to eat and drink. The choice of wine, in particular, is enormous!
We hired a car which we picked up at Bordeaux airport and it was very easy to visit the beautiful countryside with it's rich history. It was great to see the world famous vineyards and their Chateaux.
The market in Blaye is well worth a visit as is the historic citadel.
first 5 stars go to typical things: great location; quiet; comfortable room (the blue room is very large); super breakfast with homemade jams; great advice & help from Herve; very good wifi.
the next 5 stars: safe bicycle parking; wonderful art throughout the house; lovely garden; Herve is the most gracious host and enjoys engaging conversation (in English or French); Gangster the dog.
do not miss staying at Maison Matejewski when in Blaye. Very highly recommend this BnB.
If we could do 20 out of 10 we would. The accommodation is beautiful, the owner is very very helpful and has a good sense of humour, which I appreciate as my partner has one too 😀. The hotel doesn't look much from the outside, but when you walk through the door it's just lovely. I apologise about our clutter in the pictures 🫣 as we are travelling though France on a motorbike. We loved this place so much we are staying another night.
The hosts were great, a lovely welcome and a great little chat about the history of the chateau when we arrived was lovely. The setting including gardens and pool are lovely. Only a 2 minute drive into Blaye in order to eat at night was good. Breakfast was okay, but as possibly the last ones down to eat we felt that choice of fruit was limited- maybe a need to check on replenishing the food until everyone has eaten.
Guide books rightly praise the Auberge. It's near the river in the characterful town of Blaye just a walk or drive from the ferry and the amazing fortifications. I enjoyed my stay and the owner kindly advised me of the best local vineyards and even called them on my behalf to book visits. My room was comfortable and I loved the breakfast. The guide books are right.

The apartment is spacious and beautifully decorated and furnished. It is well equipped for a self catering holiday
It is an easy walk down to Blaye and parking is close by. A good view of The Citadel from the bedroom window
We were made welcome by our host Emilie although had not picked up her message to call 10 minutes before arrival
Stephane and Christine were very helpful and friendly. The pool was very clean with lots of sun loungers. Good location and quiet. Our room was very comfortable. Perfect. We will definitely stay again and would highly recommend Le Clos Reaud to anyone visiting Blaye.
Breakfast was good.getting to local restaurantz was a problem , no taxi service but the owner drove us to and from some nice restaurants in Blaye.I was not happy driving and drinking and not happy dining and not drinking. The owner solved the problem
My colleague and I arrived by bicycle after a long and hot day in the saddle and were made most welcome on our arrival. Extremely friendly and helpful staff, and we were very pleased with all aspects of the hotel.
Very friendly welcome from staff, including information on the Blaye ferry timetable. Very peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. Excellent breakfast, generous with plenty of choice.
Beautiful apartment right in downtown Blaye. It was so nice meeting Emilie, and she gave us ideas for activities in the area. Check-in and check-out were super easy with her.
