The location is close to the motorway and restaurants but still very quiet and picturesque. Bed was comfortable and we hand a good nights sleep. Vincent was very welcoming and understanding that we were late for check-in. Breakfast was fresh and homemade. Location and building is stunning.

19 August 2022 Good Morning I contacted by email Gites du Caylar at 19h57 on 17hth August 2022 explaining that I will arrive 1h30 late for check in (23h30 instead of the 22h00 limit) . First the landlord accepted our late arrival on the phone. Then the landlady called afterwards and that shen cannot recieve us and expained that they are working 18h00 a day and they are not an hotel. She also told us that she will not let us in , there is no possibility to let us in without a person at the reception and that we should look for a different accomodation. The reservation was canncelled by Gites du Caylar at around 6h30 on 18 . August 2022. Given that I was charged 150€ with no discount for being supposedly late 1h30. I asked the booking help to book to ask for a refund which was declined in its entirety. No percentage was given. Questions 1/ Why can t I see the the e mail exchange that I had with Gites du Caylar any more on the platform? I called the help desk, they have sent me the conversation by email but were unable to povide me with a reason 2/ Why am I unable to describe in the comment section of Gites du Caylar my reservation problems? Kind regards Jose Sarafana

Le Caylar is a small village, has a few restaurants, bar and mini supermarket. I would say there are only two reasons to stay there, either you are passing through and only want a nights accommodation or if you want to use it for a base for walking, hiking etc.
Perfect! Everything about Le Berry du Grand Chemin is perfect! Aurore & Vincent are the most fabulous hosts and have created a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the fabulous village of Le Caylar. Excellent rooms, dog friendly and fantastic homemade food; even creating delicious gluten free crepes for my gluten intolerant partner. Merci! x
Very nice place in a vintage hotel, in classic style preserved. The host is very friendly and helpfully. Good breakfast with local products. The village is small but worthwhile for a visit. Mountain bike possibilities with a lot of beautiful routes, as well as for hiking. Easy to find from the highway. Host speaks very good English.
We were very late due to EV charging problems, called the hotel to explain our late arrival. The usual late arrival facilities were out of order. The staff took all pains to get us in even after midnight in pouring rain, she returned from home in her pyamas to let us in. Class treatment to not a customer down.

Nice hotel, good staff. Just of the motorway but far better than the average French hotels that are situated next to the main north-south routes. Great location, beautiful French mansion in a quiet area, enormous terrace, nice pool. Simply great value for money. Highly recommend the breakfast!

We have stayed here several times on our journey home from Spain to the Cher and always liked the hotel, local cafe, baker and burger cafe. It is also very affordable and has good parking places.
