Where to begin! My Fiancé brought me here for what I thought was a mini break. Little did I know he would propose whilst we were here! Everyone who worked here was in on it and they went above and beyond to make our stay special. The atmosphere is the most gorgeous rustic charm that is expected in this part of the country, with clean rooms, stunning gardens and one of the best breakfasts around. I could not recommend Widbrook Barns highly enough. Staying there was like joining a small community for our stay and every moment was perfect, start to finish.

Amazing place to stay and close to local cafes, resteraunts and canal walks. The Halls 7 acre garden was well worth walking around.
Mostly no one around, so had the whole place to ourselves, although most of the building was closed off and only viewable on their occasional formal tours.

I chose this property specifically to suit my requirements of a quiet dog friendly retreat with a little va va voom and I wasn't disappointed! I came as a single person with one quiet dog and absolutely loved my stay here. It was clean, quiet, welcoming and quite beautiful.
The furnishings, bed, kitchen and shower were amazing with lots of little extras including fresh crusty bread, butter, milk, coffee, teabags and a tin of baked beans - awesome for breakfast. I also loved the olive oil and balsamic vinegar, lovely for dipping the bread in! I had read the instructions and other reviews before I left home and found the property easy to find, the parking easy to find, access to the property was via a very short walk along a brick path - no mud! Hot water was plentiful and kitchen was well stocked for cooking.
The heating in the main area was easy to use with the instuctions provided and the room heated up in minutes. I struggled with operating bathroom heating and the lovely hosts have said they would look at making this clearer for future visitors. The wood fire again had excellent instructions and there was a good supply of everything I needed.
My dog was very welcome and enjoyed the private garden area and provided treats. I liked that the accommodation didn't look, feel or smell 'doggy' when I entered.
It was the perfect location from which to explore Frome, Bradford on Avon, Bath, Wells and Glastonbury. The train from Bradford to Bath is a 10 minute journey and certainly beat driving and finding parking in the city. The local Sainsbury's is a few minutes away from the property and ideal for popping in for dinner bits on the way back from explorations.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would certainly come here again. Many thanks to the hosts.

Location and scenery - waking up with the sound of birds, quietness and the garden views were priceless. Amazing home decoration and very spacious. Great selection of books. Our dog was spoiled and very welcomed with a dog bed, treats, bowl of water...
I wish we could stay longer or come back in the Springtime.

Bradford-upon-Avon is a beautiful town, lots of nice canal and river walks, but the town itself, has been spoiled by heavy traffic. Still worth a visit once you're away from the traffic. We visited several national trust properties, very good base if you like to do that sort of thing.

Lovely small town in the local stone, great to walk around, although there's a big hill to get up on the way back to the digs.
We'll be coming back when we have more time so we can go for a walk along the canal.
After a longish walk, stop in the Stumble Inn for a warm welcome in a quiet pub - it's well worth it!

Walked down hill to get to the centre to find some where to have dinner on Sunday evening.
Struggled back up the hill, rather steep.
Ate at Ravello, good food.
Walked around the church area.
Sure more available other days and earlier in the day.

Lots of character and interesting shops.
Lots of character and interesting shops. Choice of eating establishments. Plenty of places for children and dogs. Parking could be a problem. Proximity to river and canal. Plenty of opportunities for walking. Narrow streets cause driving challenges! Lots of charity shops have opened in the past few years. Some interesting historical places to see.

Lots to see, most places easy to access, local artists and creators well supported, unusual and historical architecture, friendly locals, lots of amenities, dog friendly locations, regular bus and trains, lovely canal and boats, tythe barn, Saxon church, vehicular and pedestrian bridges, easy walk around the centre of the town as mainly flat (some more adventurous walks available if interested) , not too crowded (it was January) and easy to get to the centre and find parking, day trips on canal if you are not confident enough to skipper your own

Beautiful place to spend a day or two but a little short of proper pubs.
Tea and coffee shops are in plentiful supply.
Taking a good look around the back streets is a must as they are really interesting with lots of
oldy worldy cottages.

The hosts were very helpful and friendly, quick to respond to messages. The apartment was beautiful, some very thoughtful touches - flowers and fresh milk on arrival. It was wonderfully spacious and comfortable, and very tastefully decorated. We loved it! Bradford on Avon is also a very beautiful and picturesque place, with lots of walking routes. Just 2 mins walk from the apartment near the bridge we lost an hour watching 3 kingfishers by the river - truly magical.
Our room was very cosy. It had everything we needed for a short stay. The shower room is big and was always warm. They have some lovely animals on the farm. The games room is great! There's lots of family games to play. We recived a lovely warm welcome from the hosts. They helped us with an early check-in and were contactable throughout our stay. It's a great location to explore Bradford on Avon and Bath. We would definately stay here again.
What an amazing place! Pub looks so beautiful from the outside. This was a late booking for us & it far exceeded our expectations. Beautiful on the inside too - pristinely clean room and great size. Lots of different teas on our hospitality tray as well as biscuits & a fridge for milk/water, which is a lovely touch. Will definitely return! Equidistant between Bath & Bradford on Avon which suited us, as we were visiting Bath both days.
The hotel stands in very attractive grounds and gardens. We had a lovely room - spacious, comfortable and clean. It was just a short distance from Trowbridge and Bradford on Avon. We enjoyed the canal walks and the beautiful architecture in both towns, though Bradford is particularly special - a mini Bath.
We ate in the restaurant and found the food and service to be excellent.
We would definitely return when next in the area.
The accommodation was in central Bradford on Avon. The parking was free, but located in a car park which was away from the hotel - by the train station, and NOT the carpark right next to the hotel, so unload then go and park. The staff said it was a 1 minute walk. (I'd review that if you are over 60) Easy to walk along the river or to the canal - both were really pretty.
in a lovely part of Bradford on Avon. This is a room in someone's.house. The door was answered by Paul (I think?) who was lovely. Very friendly and chatty. The room itself has lots of character with lots of plants. Bathroom wasn't en suite, but I was the only person using it and it was right next door. A lovely healthy breakfast in the morning.
Rubbish property. it’s not a hotel just few rooms with a pub. The pictures are mis leading. We have been told no reception we will be locked whole night in one small building . The property is in forest, rubbish and arrogant owner . not sure howcome Booking.com rating is 8+ . I have been cheated by the property owner and Booking.com
The quiet, being able to have the window open. The quirky room. Beautiful grounds. Out of Bradford on Avon but near the bus stop and only about 15 min journey to Bradford and 30 min walk to Trowbridge although you can get the bus. The hotel does a full vegan breakfast although i was quite happy with the toast and Marmite and fruit.
The location and parking were great for that area as parking in Bradford on Avon can be limited. The room was clean and comfortable but the friendly and professional staff were what made the stay a delight. Particularly the blond lady in charge at breakfast and who oversaw our funeral arrangements. A credit to the team!
The surroundings were beautiful and peaceful. The room was very clean, spacious and had everything you needed. The pool was gorgeous and a lovely temperature. The gym was super and overlooked the pool. Breakfast was a good quality and a fantastic selection. Definitely will be back :) very dog friendly.
Herb is situated about 2 miles north of Bradford on Avon, off the main road and down a country lane. If you're after peace and quiet in a rural setting then it's for you. My room was large and had en suite. The breakfast was more than adequate and host friendly and helpful.
The Hall a beautiful historic building set in its own grounds, located in the centre of Bradford on Avon. it makes a wonderful base from which to tour the surrounding area. Our room was large, comfortable and exquisitely furnished.
This is a quirky four room hotel in the centre of town, above a pub. Our room was large, airy, and comfortable. The free breakfast consisted of a bottle of fresh milk, a box of cornflakes, and bottle of juice. Not bad!
Dick was a wonderful host and gave us a great recommendation to walk the nearby canal path into Bradford then take the train to Bath for a day of sightseeing. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there!
A fantastic location in a charming town. The Swan Hotel has. friendly staff, nice rooms with comfy beds and a great breakfast to boot. The train ride to Bath only took 15 mins.
