Haggerston Castle is a huge site, very well maintained with beautiful grounds with lots of wildlife. Plenty of options for food to eat in or take away, lots of activities for all the family on site and even a train for trips around the grounds. Lots of places to visit within a 30-45 minute drive including Berwick upon Tweed, Alnwick, Seahouses & Holy Island. The staff are all friendly and helpful with even the grounds maintenance team giving a wave as they pass in their tractor.
Definitely worth a visit.

l It was spotlessly clean up-to-date beautiful furniture and fittings, pleasant outdoor surroundings quiet and peaceful. Near to all amenities but far enough away to have a quiet and restful time. Visited the local coastline. Ate both on site at various restaurants and also further afield at coastal bars and hotels. Had no difficulty getting around the site or the various routes to nearby beauty spots. There was nothing we needed to avoid.

My review and recommendatons are not about Cheswick.
My review and recommendatons are not about Cheswick. The nearby little town is Berwick upon Tweed. It offers a full range of shops, including for instance a large second-hand bookshop, and the local people are extremely welcoming. The youth hostel building also houses an art gallery, and during our visit had a wonderful exhibition of local work by that most famous of English artists William Turner. Incredibly, entrance was free. What is more, on the ground floor were comfortable chairs, cups of tea etc and newspapers. Of course there's so much to visit in the area that you are spoiled for choice, but do not miss Berwick!
