The room was excellent, dinner was fine and breakfast was disappointing as there weren’t enough staff on duty. My daughter’s scrambled egg was cold and we didn’t see anyone to tell. We mentioned it at checkout and the lady didn’t apologise

We loved the hotel, the room was really comfortable! The restaurant was perfect, they dealt with my dairy intolerance really easily! There was nothing I wanted but couldn't have! Nothing was ever too much trouble! This was the second time we've visited Dartmouth and stayed in Browns and both times they have exceeded our expectations!

For a 3 day visit there are plenty of places nearby to visit, including a couple of national trust places (Greenways, Agatha Christies house; and another county home., art deco and with impressive views from the gardens). Brixham was a surprisingly great find too.

Wonderful little town.
Wonderful little town. Very picturesque and some nice hidden nooks and crannies. Enjoyed several river trips, visited Agatha Christies holiday home by boat which was lovely . Some nice pubs in Dartmouth particularly the Seven Stars - oldest pub in town and good food and beer!

Being February it wasn't beach weather and we only did a two night mid-week trip. We visited the charming local museum and strolled around the narrow streets and local shops. Dartmouth is built on two sides of a valley but if you don't like walking up hill there is a regular bus to take you around town. We took advice and booked restaurants ahead. The Royal Castle Hotel offers a really good menu in a pub setting where the food and service were excellent. We also ate at the Embankment where the menu is not so traditional but the food was excellent. We took a boat trip with a very entertaining and informative commentary. Sadly the steam train from Kingswear wasn't running mid-week out of season but we drove to Buckfast Abbey which is well worth a visit. Finally we lunched at Rockfish, majoring in fish of course, another excellent meal to set us up for the drive home.

Loved being by the river.
Loved being by the river. Ferries for vehicles or on foot very close to Bayards and reasonably priced.
Ample gift shops, food stores, museums, Information Building (excellent staff) to help.
Walks and historical landmarks nearby, Bayards Cove, Dartmouth Castle (a bit expensive for what we saw and cafe closed an hour earlier than the castle), historical walks to castle.
Plenty of pubs, eating houses etc.
Some restaurants exceptionally expensive but with so many £m's of pounds worth of yachts and boats in harbour, they would cater for everyone.
River cruise lovely to Ditsmarsh there and back, viewing Agatha Christie's house alongside the river.
Could probably stay a week (as opposed to 3 nights) and still enjoy Dartmouth.
Was told that February/March is a good time to visit as Dartmouth is not "too full" and you can get into the pubs and restaurants without queueing. However, some river boats not operating until March/April or May but there were adequate amounts operating for number of people in Dartmouth during February.
This property was everything you could need for a stay in Dartmouth. Location was excellent - right in the centre and within easy walking distance of everything.
Accommodation itself was very nice - clean, good size, attractive decor, comfy bed, plenty of light, great bathroom.
We loved the 2 balconies, especially the private one to the side.
All in all a wonderful stay.
We’ll be back for sure!
The breakfast was excellent with plenty of food on offer. It was served quickly and a very pleasant server who could not do enough for us. The rooms were very comfortable and had everything you would expect from a four or five star hotel. That coupled with the welcome from the staff and bar staff makes the Ship in Dock Inn an excellent choice to stay while visiting Dartmouth.
The staff were all really nice, they were very personable, attentive and really wanted to please. The hotel is well known to us in terms of location and we were really impressed with the fit-out internally. The restaurant area is very comfortable and welcoming and the food is excellent. We would definitely book again if we were coming to Dartmouth in the future.
Fabulous location near to all Dartmouth has to offer. Beautiful accommodation with outstanding views, the apartment had everything you need with windows going all the way around looking down to the river. Plenty of outside space with the most stunning views, will miss eating breakfast on the terrace and taking in the views, absolutley outstanding.
Absolutely beautiful Hotel with lovely staff! Centrally located and we booked a river view room that was stunning. We ate at the restaurant that night and food was amazing too....I didn't want to leave! Some great history, beautiful old building and will stay there again as soon as we come back. Can't recommend this place enough :)
Browns has an ideal central location just a few minutes walk from Dartmouth's many attractions. My room was a generous size and very comfortable. Cooked breakfast was of a high calibre. The hotel also had a number of recycling bins for people to dispose of any waste in an eco-friendly way and I thought this was a nice touch.
Great hotel in Dartmouth. Staff are all very friendly and helpful. Great breakfast in the upstairs dining room overlooking the harbour. Great room and bathroom. Had a nice drink each evening in the bar where there is a good selection of local gins and beers. Excellent location in Dartmouth. Would definitely stay again.
Excellent location in the centre of Dartmouth town, within a short walk of everything. Noise wasn't an issue, even though there was a busy pub a few doors up. High standard of finish to the room . Nice shower. Good selection of tea/coffee supplies. Very comprehensive information pack supplied by the on-site host.
Very comfortable accommodation where the host had added homely touches as well as a really well equipped kitchen. WiFi was stable so we could work remotely and our dog Milford appreciated Norton Park & surrounding area.
Also only 5-6 mins drive to Dartmouth waterfront and 2 mins to Sainsbury's & LIDL.
Very good location - very convenient for Dartmouth and a pleasant walk to nearby picturesque village and pub and further on to the lovely Blackpool Sands. The hosts were very welcoming with an excellent breakfast with plenty of choice. The room was clean, quiet and very good value for the price.
Perfect location for Dartmouth harbour, town and higher ferry
Lovely, well equipped and comfortable apartment
Free parking in nearby public car park with permit provided by hosts
Free wifi (although had to phone to get password)
Friendly staff
Good communication from hosts in advance of our stay
Bayards cove is tucked away down a side street of Dartmouth close to the estuary. The inn is ancient, beautifully restored, atmospheric and cosy. There were lots of thoughtful touches, well appointed room, welcoming staff and a delicious breakfast with loads of choices.
Location, right in the centre of town, and car parking nearby, friendly staff when we found them, clean and fresh with decent shower plenty of tea and coffee and trusted honesty box for extras . Expensive place Dartmouth so fair price considering.
Great stay, the staff were brilliant our room was excellent it would have put some of the other places in Dartmouth which we have stayed to shame and half the price. The food was lovely.
Well done the Seven Stars we will be back.

Amazing location for exploring Dartmouth. Great to have a few kitchen facilities when travelling with children. Cosy for two adults and two children but more space than a family hotel room. Would definitely recommend. Hope to stay again.
Neil is an exceptionally kind and helpful host. The hotel and rooms are very clean and comfortable. The terrace at the back of the hotel is a lovely place to sit and enjoy a view over Dartmouth. Easy safe off road parking.
it’s a lovely lovely Bar, Bistro hotel very close to all the amenities in Dartmouth - great place to stay! the food in the bistro is wonderful and tasty!
