Beautiful place with a breathtaking view.

Beautiful place with a breathtaking view. Very pretty garden. The house is absolutely gorgeous, very spacious, comfortable furniture everything super clean and brand new. Jan and Colin are the nicest people on earth rescuing us from the back of beyond with two flat tires. I want to come again and stay much longer.

We called in to a few pubs and the locals were all very friendly and chatty even to us English ha ha. The town was clean and we had a nice walk across the river along a park then back again. There was plenty of places to have a drink. We only went for the football at Queen of the South and I would go there again given the chance.

I visited with my young grandchildren to attend the Wigtonshire Book Festival which was a great success, as was the accommodation. However on the Sunday evening, after the Book Festival, There was nowhere suitable available in Dumfries to take three children for an evening meal before travelling home to Stirling. Quite disappointing.

Dumfries is a mecca for all things Rabbie Burns; it boasts the site of his original grave, a Burns museum, the house where he last resided, his local pub and more besides. The people of Dumfries are exceptionally friendly and the town is steeped in history. The River Nith provides a romantic backdrop which is very atmospheric at night. Dumfries is easily accessible by road and rail and easy to get around. There are some very characterful places to visit and with more visitors, the variety of places to eat and drink will surely increase.

Second time i've stayed and again the people who run Hamilton House were wonderful The room I had with the double bed was clean, very comfortable and I had plenty of space and was worth every penny. The breakfast was delicious and the dining facilities were warm and welcoming. Hamilton House is close to the train station and not far from the town center so it's ideal for anyone whos' never visited/stayed in Dumfries before. I am really looking forward to going back again soon.

Southpark House is beautiful. Our room was perfect. Massive comfy bed with gorgeous views of the country, and less than 5min drive into Dumfries town. Breakfast was amazing - You can choose what you want from a list the night before - and there was plenty! We only stayed one night and wish we'd stayed for more. Such a lovely place to stay, with beautiful hosts. Their dog Xander was a bonus - Always up for some pats over the gate!

The hotel is in a good location for a stroll into Dumfries, easily found and there’s loads of free parking (cars & bikes) The rooms are large & spotless, the hotel has loads of character and everything was Covid secure. Terry & Lynn are the nicest hosts in the world - nothing is too much trouble, they are really friendly & knowledgeable about the area. The breakfast was brilliant. We will be back.

Euan Maxwell runs an outstanding B&B to rival most hotels and nothing is too much trouble. Room and en-suite bathroom were spacious and immaculate in all respects. Bed was clean and comfortable. We made use of the guest kitchen which is very fully equipped. We enjoyed an excellent breakfast. We will certainly use Southpark House again when we need to stay in the Dumfries area in the future.

Riverview had everything you could need, a true home from home and a lovely base to explore Scotland. Lovely to look out over the river and a brilliant park just outside for early morning dog walks. Great location for getting out doing some walks and good restaurants very close. The welcome pack was a lovely touch especially treats for the doggo. Thanks for a great stay

We were allocated the room not attached to the main hotel. It was clean, well maintained and very comfortable. Car parking space was a bonus as it was a great location for walking into town and if arriving by train. We stopped in Dumfries mainly to break up the journey to Fort William. We left early so didn't have breakfast which I'm sure would have been very good.

We had a splendid, spacious room in this lovely 1920s Arts and Crafts house in a quiet suburban neighbourhood. Our room was furnished with a genuine antique four-poster bed with matching wardrobe, all very tasteful. A good full Scottish breakfast set us up for our onward journey. The house is a 0.8 mile walk into the centre of Dumfries
