Tullich House, hotel in Keith

George and Janis were terrific hosts. We were greeted with freshly-baked scones and tea/coffee. The rooms were immaculate, large and well-appointed. The home was in a beautiful area about 5 minutes outside of Dufftown. The bathroom was terrific .. heated floors and an incredibly inviting tub. The dram of whisky greeting us in the room was an extra lovely touch. We loved sitting by the fire at the end of the night, visiting with George, and unwinding. Breakfast the next day was fantastic - definitely the best we had on our trip. We would definitely return on future visits to the area!

The Dowans Hotel of Speyside, hotel in Keith

Set high above the village of Charlestown of Aberlour and overlooking the River Spey, this elegant country hotel is an ideal venue for shooting and fishing, and for whiskey-lovers.

This was the most exceptional stay of our entire trip to Scotland. Luxurious stay with comfortable rooms. Quiet and relaxing. The dinner was fantastic and we sincerely appreciated how they run their dinner in multiple rooms starting with cocktails in the library. The staff was so accommodating as we needed to park early since we had an all day distillery tour. Breakfast was fantastic!

The town is very historic but seems to lack the vision other towns in Scotland seemed to have found. The main street could be more ornate to capture attention of people passing through (as well as encourage better usage or street front property) and the commercial street behind the Main Street is not easily found or accessed…. Might be best to make a parking lot at the park on south end and make the commercial street a walking venue with ornate and historic flavor to attract both local people and travelers….

A good array of local and National grocery shops either side of the river, including a large Tesco. The Indian takeaway is also a big plus! The local shops and bakeries were all great. Great mainline train service down from Inverness or up from Aberdeen, plus the quaint heritage line from Keith Town station to Dufftown. Keith is well placed to explore the NE coastal towns and villages, across to Aviemore or Glenfarclas distillery (shameless plug for them), or indeed into Aberdeenshire.

I was staying there to go to the Dufftown Highland Games.

I was staying there to go to the Dufftown Highland Games. I'd heard that it was a very friendly occasion where most people there were locals. That's just how it was. I had a really splendid day, never having been to such an event before, it was better than I could have imagined.
