Strathardle Lodge is a real gem. The original building is over 300 years old, but has been lovingly restored, refurbished and maintained. It sits on the banks of the River Ardle, with fishing rights to 100 metres of river in front of the lodge. Two beautifully furnished, cosy lounges with new leather chairs and open fires (in winter). An extensive range of 10 and 12 year old single malt whiskies and some blends too. New owner Chris (since March 2023) will happily share his thoughts on each and offer guidance to help your choice. There’s also a well-stocked bar with several gins, beer, red and white wine and soft drinks, with accompanying snacks. The freezer is packed with a variety of well-priced, ready-made frozen meals which guests can buy and cook (microwave) themselves. The rooms are large and airy, and EXCEPTIONALLY clean, with large bathroom and deep, claw-foot bath. Continental and cooked breakfasts are included in the tariff. Choices include traditional Haggis and Black Pudding. This property has a real, home-away-from-home, comfortable, cosy, relaxing atmosphere. We loved it and wished we could have stayed longer.

This hotel exceeded all of my expectations. Me and my mum didn't like the room we were originally put in, and the man working at reception changed us to an absolutely beautiful room instead. He was exceptional throughout our stay, friendly and helpful. The room we ended up in (room 5) was stunning, the breakfast was delicious, the bar and tables out in the garden gorgeous, and the pool is lovely and well kept. The staff obviously take great pride in the place and it shows. I'll definitely be back, it's now one of my favourite hotels in Pitlochry. It's also one of the most affordable!
