Nice welcome from Ainsley. She was very friendly and made sure i had everything i needed. Quirky and remote old Lodge. Lots of character. Very very quiet so make sure you like that. Tea and coffee facilties provided as well as a full working kitchen BUT you will need to bring your own provisions. Lair is 5 miles up the road and there is a Spar there where you can grab some food shopping. So if you are coming get yourself organised and you will enjoy your stay. Or better still, bok a table at The Pier restaurant in Lairg. They also do a breakfast and open at 10am.
The even let me park my van there whilst i went off cycling for 4 days with my 5th being back at the Lodge. Made my logisitics so much easier.

Our stay at Invercassley cottage during our cycle tour of Scotland was nothing short of exceptional. Glenn and Michelle went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable and well taken care of. They provided secure storage for our bikes. Their warm hospitality and attention to detail made Invercassley cottage feel like a home away from home. We couldn't have asked for a better place to rest and recharge. Highly recommended for fellow cyclists!

The property was nice a clean, had few problems such as with gas, not having the heating although we had hot water but still we would need heating. Had a very short stay so I prefer not to bother but still if you’re paying the money shouldn’t provided with everything.

While there aren't days worth of activities to do within Lairg itself, it offers lovely views and lovely food for those staying there or those passing through. The Loch is great for photo opportunities and there is a forrest walk there also. It is great as a base to adventure out from for a scenic drive to the west coast where there are sandy beaches, or to the East coast where there are lovely towns and castles to visit. The locals are also very friendly.

This was a charming little town, a little off the beaten path but worthwhile.
The stay felt safe, other guest friendly and staff desired to please.
This location was easy to find, easy to park.
My wife felt it could use more toilet paper.
I never figured out how to work the soap dispenser.
The breakfast and dinner were A OK.

Lairg was just what we wanted, a small quiet village, very clean and tidy, little shops that stocked everything, fish and chip shop was superb, Pier Inn had delicious food, lots of lovely walks, and community centre was full of information, very helpful staff, overall stay was great, and the River Shin, was lovely as was the Loch, if you want away from the rat race, Lairg is the place to go.

. Rather let down by local amenities that were not yet up to speed after lockdown. We were unable to book a table for dinner. Fortunately, the village shop has enough supplies for us to pull together a decent meal. The apartment kitchen was more than sufficient to prepare our meal.

Lairg is a very small village with limited but ample shops for supplies, we knew this in advance and this suited us as we were looking for a nice peaceful break. There is a Chippy that we used once after a long day out and the fish & chips were great 👍

Sutherland is one of the most magical places in the world...
Sutherland is one of the most magical places in the world but be prepared to get fuel when you can and stock up with food when you get a chance. Even when marked as open some of the shops and fuel stations are not currently open.
The accommodation is tastefully furnished and has everything you could think of to enjoy your stay. Hosts are really friendly and there if you need them. Really comfortable and ideally located not too far from local amenities. Very quiet and peaceful making a relaxing stay easy. Our 6 night stay was fantastic and we managed to complete the NC500. Night skies are so dark too you can see so many stars it takes your breath away. Thoroughly recommend Jakels Rest and would love to visit again in the future. Thanks Jan & Kelvin
The apartment exceeded my expectations - comfortably furnished, tastefully (concede that that's a subjective realm!) decorated and well- equipped, making for a relaxing stay. Very handy for the little supermarket a few metres along the road. Lairg, 'the crossroads of the North', is a good base for the quiet expanses of eastern Sutherland and (if you have a car!) the extraordinary mountain landscapes to the west.
Communication from Jackie was in good time and was helpfully clear.
Colaboll Farmhouse is ideally located to explore Sutherland. The house is well equipped and enjoys the benefit of a boot room where you can quickly dry wet coats and boots. There is a log burner in the lounge for the cooler evenings and two areas to dine.
There are good shops near by to get groceries and highly recommend a visit to The Pier cafe in Lairg,
It's beyond Lairg but easy to find, very spacious accommodation and - best of all - wooden flooring in all rooms except bathroom. Thanks for the friendly welcome. We enjoyed our stay, watching the sheep and the birds from the living room.
The guides on birds and walking trips were highly appreciated. Highly recommended !!
Friendly welcoming hosts, very comfy bed, and well-appointed apartment with everything you need. It was perfect for a long weekend away and had plenty space - much better than a hotel room. it was immaculately clean and a great location for exploring Caithness and Sutherland.
Lovely location and accomodation, owners both friendly and helpful, everything you need in the apartment even Baer essentials in kitchen cupboard if required.shop , takeaway and petrol station which was even cheaper than Inverness petrol station all at hand.dog friendly too.
Large clean warm room with large bathroom.
Delicious supper in bar, even out of season in October
Fantastic breakfast!
Very dog friendly and great walks from hotel.
We’ll certainly find again, and stay longer, if in the area again.
Lovely and extremely helpful hosts. The accommodation was really lovely, with a gorgeous garden at the back to sit in. The hosts left cake and whisky, which was such a thoughtful gesture. I will definitely be back.
The breakfast was fine more than enough.
The hotel was in the centre of Lairg and easy to find.
Very useful as in a central location and able to use it as a base for touring the area.
Really easy to find, close to Lairg. Pod had everything we needed, fantastic views during the day and at night. Tour of the farm was a great bonus! Great breakfast too at a good price.
Very helpful and friendly hosts.
Excellent breakfast containing many homemade elements.
Large room with lovely views from the balcony.
Excellent evening meals in local Kylesku hotel
Fabulous hotel in a quiet location. Staff were exceptional and the food fantastic. Morag, Henry and team are so welcoming and the location was perfect for our trip.Thank you all.
Beautifully decorated and well equipped in most respects. Good central location in Lairg very near Loch Shin. The owner/manager was very helpful when something went wrong.
Beautiful tranquil location. Spotlessly clean well equipped pods. Excellent onsite breakfast van with tasty bacon rolls. Pier cafe in Lairg does good food.
