Really enjoyed our one night stay. Rooms were clean and big. Liked the idea of having water as this was much needed after the night out. Breakfast was spot on and reasonable price. Beer garden was lovely as we were lucky with the weather. Very good value for money

We stayed here a year and a half ago just as the new owners were taking over and the place has been transformed. Lovely clean room with a complementary bottle of wine which was a lovely extra. We had dinner and drinks in the restaurant which was very tasty and really good value for money and it had a lovely atmosphere with a cosy wood burning fire. We opted for a rate with breakfast which again was fantastic with great quality ingredients and my daughter loved the hot chocolate. Would definitely recommend and we will definitely be back.

Have stayed at this site many times and have found egress from the site can be risky. We leave the site by turning left, do a U turn at next junction on right, then join traffic with good site in wing mirror.
We eat at several different outlets. Trelawney Garden Centre near Wadebridge recommended as is Trago Mills.

It is a central location which makes it a good base to explore from. We didn't actually visit the town but drove to the Eden Project, Tintagel, Lost Gardens of Heligan, Polperro, St Austell etc. The local roads are narrow and winding, it takes ages to get anywhere, and you have to reverse a lot back to passing places on single track roads! We are vegetarian and found it easy to find really good places to eat. I recommend visiting Olive and Co at Sibleyback lake.

The clothes drying outside was not the best as the sun wasn’t on the wash line much
However there was a washer dryer (which I don’t like) should you need to get something dry
We visited Newquay, Perranporth and Looe, the latter being our favourite as it was nearest and had crab fishing as well as the beach

The hotel is 5 miles from Liskeard, which we did not visit other than to drive through! There is at least one petrol station which we did use.
However there are plenty of places of interest within a short drive. We ate at Wheal Tor and several of the local inns.

The town itself is quite a depressed area and so not particularly touristy, but it is easy travelling distance from some amazing countryside and this makes a good stopover to/from places further west.
This was a really comfortable, beautifully decorated bedsit with separate bathroom. There is a well-equipped little kitchenette. We like to be able to prepare our own food and to relax at a table rather than going to endless restaurants while travelling. The garden was very pretty and calming, with a delightful little waterfall made by the owners from debris they found in the garden after purchase.
The very welcoming owners also had a good stock of books / brochures about Cornwall and were themselves full of helpful suggestions.
Rachel and Steve were fabulous hosts and gave us lots of recommendations of where to visit during our stay. The bungalow annexe itself had a secure garden which was great for our dog. There was a fully equipped kitchen with top of the range appliances. The bed was very comfortable and it was very quiet at night for a good nights sleep. The location meant that it was the perfect base to explore Cornwall. We enjoyed it so much that we tried to extend our stay however, unfortunately it was fully booked.
Stayed for 5 nights at this wonderful hotel. After some poor reviews for the previous owners, the new owners have worked really hard to re-establish this hotel’s reputation - and it’s paying off. Everything about our stay was fantastic. The location is great with stunning views across miles and miles of countryside, the welcome from the staff is warm and friendly, the room was spotless and the food, at breakfast and dinner, was beautiful. We could not fault a single thing and will definitely be back.
Sportsmans Valley Hotel went above and beyond during our stay. We even celebrated my partner’s birthday on their pub and they are very helpful and attended our requests promptly. Compliments to the chef because their food is so amazingly delicious that we even came back after checking out that day because we would like to try more.
Shoutout to all the lovely people we met in Sportsmans Valley Hotel! Will definitely come back!
Wheal Tor is the highest point in Cornwall and the view - about 270 degrees round- was amazing! We stayed in a little cabin which had a double bed, bunk beds and a pull it couch so perfect for our family if 5. We weren’t sure beforehand what food would be available so we’d brought food with us, but couldn’t resist a wood fire pizza which was very nice. If we come again we’ll plan to eat at the hotel.
Cottage was quaint, clean and had everything you required. Attention to detail by the hosts brilliant. Literally in the middle of no where - where you can truly relax and enjoy the countryside.
Games room available with pool table & table tennis great for entertainment in the evening - distracting the kids away from devices.
Loved the Forrest area to walk the dog and enjoy fire pit one evening.
Tregondale Farm is as billed , Luxury in Cornwall. A very warm welcome awaited us from Stephanie. Our rooms where first class with every need catered for in Luxury Style. Beautiful breakfasts cooked using quality local produce. This is a working farm with prize South Devon Cattle, the Family are very happy to share glimpses of life as a farming family. Would definitely return!
The cottage is new and clean and modern and a surprisingly great size. Lovely welcome pack with cream tea from the owners, parking on site, farm with friendly animals, small play area for our son, games room and on site convenience "shop". A fantastic place all around.
The family friendly atmosphere beautiful layout didn’t feel like a hotel felt like home
Comfortable and unique very cosy loved all the clocks lovely breakfast
We were very well looked after made us feel so welcome
Everything!
By far the best place I’ve rented for a week away - peaceful quiet surroundings, yet close enough to hit the road to travel all over Cornwall.
Matt the owner was fantastic! I will certainly be back😊
excellent service and hosts were so lovely. the setting was on a beautiful farm for lovely walking and easy to access other parts of Cornwall. the rooms were very comfortable and we had a wonderful experience.
Very welcoming ,comfortable room and a pleasant place to stay. I have no complaints about this pub/hotel and can recommend the beer'proper job' is exactly that! I would stay there again.
A beautifully presented and maintained property kept to a very high standard set in a peaceful rural location, yet very accessible to so many places in east Cornwall and west Devon.
Lovely hosts, lovely people, lovely stay. Very conveniently located for public transport, both bus and train. Liskeard station a short walk down the road. Highly recommend.
Lovely bungalow in a quiet rural location. The welcome pack of bread, milk, eggs and other essentials was much appreciated. Perfect base for visiting Cornwall.
