Surroundings: Beautiful village of cottages (many thatched) with a small river running close by in the wooded valley. We stayed in May when the Devon countryside is fresh and green with many wild flowers. Mornings and evenings were heralded by a chorus of birdsong. Idyllic.
Ring of Bells: Delightful country pub with rooms and high quality dining. Staff were friendly and helpful. Draft beer (Otter) was in great condition. We enjoyed a lovely meal from an impressive menu.
Room: Good size and well equipped with a large, comfy bed. Everything worked well (shower, heating, WiFi, etc).

Our room was very pleasant and our two little dogs were well catered for, which was much appreciated. The dinner was good, staff very pleasant, charming & fun to talk to and we were able to talk with other guests at adjoining tables which was most enjoyable. We liked the ambience of the dining room, well laid out with smart linen table clothes but without being pretentious.
Situated in Dunsford, The Royal Oak Inn has a restaurant, a bar and a garden. Free private parking is available at the hotel. The rooms in the hotel are fitted with a flat-screen TV.

It was very basic. But you are not paying too dollar. It does what it says on the tin. Staff very nice. Breakfast was well worth the £10 per person. Fruit/yoghurt/cereal/full English snd. Unlimited tea/coffee.

Beautiful place. Super quiet. Great for walks. Very dark at night. Just the one pub but there’s more life (including a fabulous little pizzeria, Berto’s, serving delicious pizzas to eat in or take away) in Moretonhampstead, which is a short drive away. WiFi (in the property) but no mobile phone signal. Essentially, North Bovey has all the joy and trappings of any small village. For some, it’s peaceful escapism; others may feel isolated and bored, especially without a car. I loved it for a short summer break.
