Abbey guest house is well situated in Redcar. I was warmly welcomed by Steve even though I was late in checking in. The room was well equipped with an en-suite bathroom which was great. Breakfast the following morning was comprehensive and well cooked.
Housed in a historic building, the recently renovated Red Barns Bed & Breakfast provides accommodation with a garden and free WiFi.

Redcar is the perfect location for exploring North Yorkshire between Durham and York.
Our luck with Red Barns Bed & Breakfast was threefold.
1) John and Jackie are the perfect hosts. Friendly, very helpful and both have a British sense of humour.
2. the B&B itself is located in a lovingly restored building steeped in history. Our room was perfect. Tastefully furnished and with a marvellous view of the well-tended garden.
We found a meticulously clean bathroom and a comfortable bed.
3. the breakfast more than met our expectations. It was always freshly prepared and simply delicious.
Whenever we come back to the area, Red Barns B&B will be our first port of call

Redcar is much like any other British sea side town, It is past its heyday but was clean, tidy with a good selection of shops and as we went for a night away from the day to day pressures of life it hit the spot. There is plenty to do depending on what you want, the Frosty penguins crazy golf is well worth a visit as well as the Stray cafe or the beach with a bucket and spade.

I'm biased because I grew up here but having been away for 38 years to return and see how amazing the town has become is brilliant.
The regenerated esplanade is fantastic and the beach as always is clean and golden. The view of the coastline without the steel works whilst strange to me, was actually very nice because as iconic as the works were they were a blot on a much underrated piece of England.
I married a southerner so unfortunately I no longer get to visit as often as I'd like but to be honest I could be tempted into divorce just to move back to Redcar.

Extensive sandy beaches, long promenades, delicious fish & chips shops, great for dogs (but NB, the central part of beach bans dogs in summer until 30th September) Archetypal Victorian English seaside resort-town - but sadly dilapidated in many parts, and needing major investment.
Some of the populace along the coastal strip appear to be in a precarious state - and maybe the closure of the main industries in the region over recent decades are the cause of this. Half-a-mile inland is Corporation Road, running roughly parallel to the promenade, with nice houses, a lovely park ( with a dedicated Dog-Shop) - almost a different world to the seafront buildings.
Teesmouth National Nature Reserve nearby, and the Industrial profile of massive structures, in the distance further up the coast. But wildlife is unconcerned about visual aesthetics of course. Lots of wading birds all along the beaches - sanderlings, turnstones -- etc

The Esplanade is pleasant to walk along, with plenty of seating. There are a few amusement arcades but as a seaside resort it is quite low-key.
There are plenty of shops and restaurants -we particularly like the Lemon Tree Thai restaurant. & Daisy May tea rooms. Lots of fish & chip shops, they seem to be round every corner!

We were lucky with sunny weather so we could wander round the town. Great Brazilian cafe for breakfast and lovely Thai restaurant both on the main street.
Interesting to look round the traditional old boats and their matching painted tractors
Shame the vertical pier was closed at the top but nice historical photos on the walk upwards. Do stop at Pacitto's for the local delicacy of lemon top icecream. 😀
The house was amazing newly renovated to an exceptionally high standard. Only marked comfort down because the quilt was too heavy making for a fitful night. Marked location down as we didn’t like Redcar (but that had nothing to do with B&B) Marske nearby was lovely. The host went the extra mile providing my unusual request for breakfast. Both hosts were lovely and gave us an informative history of the property and it’s inhabitants
Seaglass Cottage is a really beautiful accommodation with a cosy, beachy feel. The hosts, Helen and Lee have thought of everything that might be needed to ensure a very comfortable stay. We were a group of 4 on a short visit to Redcar visiting family and the cottage was the perfect base for us while we were there. We would love to come back again soon and would highly recommend Seaglass Cottage as a fantastic place to stay 😊
Great to be able to stay in a proper inn above a pub, a short trip by rail or bus from Redcar and Saltburn. (There’s also a pleasant coastal walk to Saltburn.) It doesn’t pretend to be the Ritz but in my opinion way better in terms of general feel than a business hotel and better value for money than the other alternatives. This place has atmosphere and feels connected to its local community.
A lovely apartment. Very spacious. Fantastic view from the bedroom. Lovely big bathroom. Can open the French doors and there is the sea! It is a great place to base yourself for sightseeing around North Yorkshire, it really is superb. Redcar's beach was beautiful. Only a 10 min walk to the Railway Station. Easy to park.
Food was exceptional and very good value for the price..carvery for lunch was awesome and breakfast was outstanding!! ...staff were so friendly and helpful.... rooms were clean and comfortable xx lovely views xx great location right on the seafront xx highly recommended!! We will be staying again 😊
Room was perfect. Well decorated and stocked with everything you'd need. Really charming space and everything was very clean.
I came for a wedding nearby and am so happy with my choice. If anyone is looking for a place to stay in Redcar or the surrounding area I'd highly recommend here!
Brilliant staff very professional friendly helpful very clean tidy room to stay in, was delicious food and service was great the hotel its self was very clean and had a lovely atmosphere and friendly guests the hotel staff went above and beyond to help us enjoy are stay 😊
This was our second stay at the Armada Guesthouse. We enjoyed our first visit so much that we took a second trip to Redcar just to return to the Armada Guesthouse. The staff is so friendly and accomodating, and the breakfast is the best in Britain.
Great location to explore the north yorkshire moors, the beach is nice. Host was great and friendly and the house was tucked away behind the high street with lots of shops within walking distance. Nice touch the biscuits milk etc left for us
Fantastic property, small but perfectly formed with everything you need, lovely host. On a lovely quiet road very close to the center. We had a nice walk by the racecourse to the Turners Mill pub for dinner, dog friendly which was great.
We had a room with a sea view, which was a clean room, and was well maintained.
Staff were friendly and helpful, and always polite.
Food was of a good quality and very consistent in its presentation.
A nice apartment. Comfortable, spacious and well equipped for basic catering. Position is ideal for anyone visiting Redcar and / exploring the area. Having free onsite parking was a bonus.
