We had a very comfortable stay at the William Cecil. Our room was one of the smaller (but cheaper!) rooms and overlooked the road. However, traffic noise was not noticeable. The room was clean, beds very comfortable, well appointed and full of character. Nice touches were a small bottle of *fresh* milk in the fridge and a couple of very nice chocolate chip cookies in an air tight jar. We had an excellent meal in Milly’s Bistro and a nice afternoon tea with scones, strawberry jam and clotted cream. Staff very friendly and efficient. Excellent location at the southern edge of Stamford near Burleigh House. Stamford is a gem of a town with lots of historic buildings, churches, small shops, etc. It also has a railway station within walking distance of the William Cecil, a big plus if you are travelling by rail.
Situated in the centre of ancient Stamford, The Bull and Swan is a historic 16th-century inn. It features unique, luxury rooms and traditional cuisine made with fresh, local produce.

Thank you very much for making our 2-night stay in Burghley Mouse so special.
The directions were easy to follow making our arrival simple. The walk through the meadow and orchard enticing, as we glimpsed our shepherd’s hut and then we were overwhelmed by the high standard of the accommodation and the attention to detail in it.
We enjoyed a peaceful, idyllic and fun weekend taking advantage of all that is on offer, including the prosecco key hunt, toasting marshmallows in the arbour one evening, riding on the tandem and eating delicious fresh eggs, collected by hand, for breakfast, to name a few of the treats you very thoughtfully provided to make our stay so special.
You have created a little oasis of luxurious calm and serenity.

It is a stunning town, with great historical architecture, and all the shops have been carefully designed to blend in as much as possible. There is a wonderful array of shops, cafes, bars and restaurants, and a street market (which I missed), and I wish I could have stayed longer. It is very lovely to walk around, with wonderful views and buildings around every corner. I came specifically for the International Music Festival, which I enjoyed thoroughly. It is also an extremely dog friendly town, with many cafes, bars and restaurants welcoming dogs. I hope to return for a longer visit - soon.

Stamford is a beautiful Georgian market town with lots of things to do and places to visit nearby. Shopping is very enjoyable as there are plenty of independent shops as well as the usual clothing chains. The Friday open air market was excellent and there were lots of bargains to be had. The choice of restaurants and cafes was very good. We can recommend Amore for its Italian cuisine and Kancchi for Indian/ Nepalese food, but would advise that you book in advance if possible.

I love old character buildings and this certainly is a lovely old character building.
The location is good with most amenities in Stamford within a ten to fifteen minute walk.
On site parking is a bonus.
Would I stay again ? Yes, very much so, whilst there were a couple of little niggles overall I enjoyed the experience.

Easy to get around hills are gentle and manageable for those with limited walking. The Hong Kong Chinese restaurant is very good, but needs to be booked as tables go quickly. Street market on Fridays and a lots of boutique shops. The St Martins Antique centre offers a extensive range of interesting collectables.
Premium Taxis are very reasonable £3.00 from the High Street back to the William Cecil Hotel.

Stamford is a beautiful town with georgian stone buildings and the whole town built in the same stone. The town is lively with lots of bars, cafes and restaurants as well as lots of local shops. The river meadows are very pretty.
Close by we visited Barnsdale Gardens and Rutland water.
The cottage was really well equipped and comfortable. All we could hear were birds chirping and singing it was so peaceful. The garden was beautiful with a lake and ducks little garden rooms to sit in chickens and tucked away at the back bee hives. Thank you for the eggs and delicious honey. An ideal place to stay if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle although only a few miles from the beautiful historic town of Stamford full of shops and restaraunts perfect situation. Thank you for a lovely stay hope to return soon .
We stayed for our 13th anniversary, immediately disappointed to find that a dinner jacket and smart shoes were needed to dine in the formal dining room. If booking.com had stated that this was needed i would have brought with me. We decided to eat elsewhere and come back for drinks later in the evening, the hotel bars/snugs and reading rooms are extremely cosy, the hotel is an ideal location to visit the surrounding area and Stamford. Breakfast was excellent and the staff made us feel extremely welcome.
Lovely stay at the William Cecil really attentive staff and lovely surroundings. Stamford is a beautiful town. We stayed in the Cecil Room was lovely and big. In evening we sat in the bar and enjoyed the really chilled nature of this hotel . Most of all we had a lovely relaxing break from our mad and busy work lives.
The house is lovely. Room was sparkling clean, spacious, bed was very comfortable, bathroom was spotless. Katie is really nice and she offered a delicious breakfast. Location was incredibly convenient, 2min away (if that) from the station, and a short walk to Stamford's city centre.
Excellent one bed house with a full kitchen. We had a really comfortable stay with the added bonus of a dedicated parking space. We only able to stay three nights unfortunately as there is so much to do in and around Stamford. Thank you for the welcome pack.
Great location for walking into Stamford centre. A lovely hotel with period features. Bar area was cosy and the restaurant breakfast was great. Staff helpful and friendly. Touches in the room such as coffee machine and homemade biscuits were appreciated.
The house is situated in a very convenient location, with its own designated parking space just minutes by car to the centre of Stamford. The kitchen was well stocked with equipment and the bathroom recently refurbished with great shower head.
Perfect place. Five minutes from train station, and the George Hotel with lovely Meadows. Two lovely double bedrooms with well fitted kitchen, and fab sitting room on third floor with great rooftop view of Stamford.
Great location in a small village near Stamford, easy access to A1.The pub looked lovely though we didn't use it as we went out to dinner and needed somewhere local to stay. Would happily stay there again.
Katie was just the most brilliant host really warm and friendly making sure all my needs were met
fabrastic breakfast beautiful house and a great location close to the George Hotel in Stamford
We loved the location. The facilities were great. Everything was to hand and very near the centre of Stamford. A delightful host and will definitely stay again when in the area.
Very comfortable clean and impeccably maintained room. Very pleasant staff and good breakfast.
Excellent location in the heart of Stamford which is very lively at weekends.
The Little Annexe had everything we needed, nice to have out side space . Easy 12minute walk in to Stamford.
