Excellent location. Well kept grounds. Great views over the lake. Nice and clean lake swimming spot close by. Quiet and restful compared to Flores. Centrally located with eateries and public shuttle close by. Closer to Tikal than Flores.
Very friendly and helpful staff.
Let us check in early which was awesome.

This hotel is truly remarkable. Its architecture not only dazzles the eye but also ingeniously combats Petén's high temperatures. The staff are exceptionally friendly, and the hotel's "no music" policy preserves its serene atmosphere, offering a perfect escape from city life.
We especially adore the tranquil lake harbors for swimming and relaxation.
The f
ood they gave us was also great!

Very pleased we stayed in El Remate as it was close to Tikal and the border with Belize. The hotel / our room had lake views and we swan from the dock close by.
The room was very clean , we had the end room so had the best view. Nice balcony and close to shops and restaurants .
Friendly owner , Humberto, organised a great tour to Tikal ( 5:30 am pickup ) with a group.

It's a hidden treasure in El Remate. I loved the room and the view, although the heat was intense, and the only cooling option was a fan. Fortunately, the hotel has its own energy plant, allowing us to use it during town power outages.

The location was amazing, and the property is beautiful, well maintained, and the most delicious Guatemalan breakfast. I will definitely recommend Alice Guesthouse to anyone visiting Tikal and its beautiful surroundings.

That it was small and family run, nothing fancy and served my needs as a solo traveler well.
Much more relaxing here than Flores or Santa Elena.
Much more relaxing here than Flores or Santa Elena. You can easily get the colectivo for 25 QTZ to flores, and it drops you back in centre of El Remate. Sometimes they even go to your hostel along the main road if you ask nicely. A few restaurants and shops but the highlight is definitely the views of the lake, sunset over the water, sitting on the dock!

El Remate is a small relaxed village near Flores but with a very different vibe. The lake is amazing to swim in and to be around and the howler monkeys place in the trees above the streets. Beautiful hidden location

Amazing experience!
Amazing experience! Real nature immersive experience but only a half hour away from town. Definitely consider all options (and reviews!!) when choosing accommodation.. the range is large and a little bit of a splurge goes a loooong way.
The lake is peaceful and truly picture perfect, well worth the trip for sunrise and sunset alone. Pick a place with kayaks/paddleboards included!

I liked the comidors tipico. Authentic local food.
I liked the comidors tipico. Authentic local food. Everything is within walking distance. Small town. The sunsets and stargazing here are top notch. I would avoid Tienda El Remate. The guy charged me more for the same product 3 days in a row. When I told him the price was higher than the day before, he shrugged me off and walked away. There are plenty of other tiendas in town. Great location for visiting Tikal- only about a 40 minute shuttle. If you plan to do a sunrise tour of Tikal, you should consider getting your ticket at a Banrural before arriving here.

El Remate is a small lake side town.
El Remate is a small lake side town. We thought it was perfect on our trip to Tikal. After visiting the ruins you can enjoy the view on the lake or jump in and cool off. in comparison to Flores it is not very touristy and if you visit a restaurant you will be treated as a friend. It is for sure a fun place to relax.
The staff were so attentive right from the beginning and they knew us by name from arrival. We were upgraded to a suite as we were on our honeymoon which was extra special. It was a huge and very comfortable room, a bit more hidden from the rest of the complex. Unfortunately my husband was sick during our stay - Noé and Ana Lucia were so helpful in suggesting medications and had a special local tea remedy sent to our suite which was a nice touch. There is a lovely vibe to the hotel and it feels very relaxed.
Despite being a little up the hill from the lake and in jungle this lodge was spotlessly clean. The construction of everything was beautiful and obviously done with a lot of care and skill. We spoke for a long time with the caretaker Santos, and he was one of the most friendly and helpful people we have met in Guatemala. This lodge is quiet and great for a nature experience. We felt lucky to have stayed here. We did the nature walk at the Biotopo next door and saw both Howler and Spider monkeys.
Located by the lake and in the greenery of trees and flowers, this accomodation is perfect for relaxing and enjoying the nature. Nearby docks allows you to soak the sunrise and sunset (even some rooms). It's 15 minutes walking from the centre of the village, 10 minutes from some good restaurants. Also the food is good in this accomodation. They can help you and arrange some transports or trip. Don't be fooled by Google maps, continue walking on main road until the sign for the hotel.
Nice welcome the owner is very kind. She will answer your questions with a lovely smile and help you if she Can. Rooms don't face directly the street so it is quiet. Affordable price. Nice terrasse in front of the room. Hot shower with good pressure. Close to eveything in town (shops restaurants lake for the sunset) and easy to catch a collectivo to Tikal. We were very happy to choose this place and el remate instead of flores to start our stay in Guatemala
Humberto the owner was great at setting up transportation to tours to local recommendations. Hotel is in the heart of El remate close to restaurants and stores. Rooms where clean with good air-conditioning which was much needed for the heat. I'm glad we stayed here than in Flores. I saw one of the best sunsets of my life at Doña marías restaurants while enjoying a beer. Don't hesitate to stay here.
Great place by the lake. Everything you’d dream about when you think of holidays ( kayak, paddle, hamac, ..) . The scenery makes for perfect pictures and long lasting memories. Personnel was very professional and kind. As we left the hotel, I forgot my glasses. Not only did they find them, they also fixed a loose branch! Can’t beat such a service!
Heaven on earth , super calm space in the jungle a few steps from the lake . Howler monkeys chatting and Tom of birds filling your eyes with amazing sounds and colors. The owners are super kind and the staff as well! Food is a 10 and el remate is a peace oasis . The place just has a magic energy . Thanks for creating and sharing it with travelers
Beautiful garden restaurant and bar area like a sort of tropical forest bathing. Great food! Lakeside pier is a plus since the actual hotel is a small climb about 200m up from the shore. The owner was kind enough to let us bring our own bottle (from our wedding!) to dinner. Overall design is beautiful and nature immersive
The location was amazing, and the property is beautiful, well maintained, and the most delicious Guatemalan breakfast. I will definitely recommend Alice Guesthouse to anyone visiting Tikal and its beautiful surroundings.
We loved it here and extended from 2 days to 4 days. El Remate is so chilled and beautiful and the hotel is in a great location. The rooms are super clean and comfy and the kitchen area was really useful.
The hotel is very nice, food is pricey but good, the staff is so friendly and the beach is beautiful. you can listen to birds and monkeys hawling all day.
