The balcony room was worth the extra cost. We had a view of the hotel’s swimming pool and the local bell tower as well as rolling Tuscan hills. The staff were super helpful. The parking garage was next door. The breakfast was a delicious buffet.

We had a fabulous night at this charming hotel run by lorella - the room was spotless with a very comfortable bed and great bathroom. We arrived before our check in time but they made our room ready and gave us a welcome coffee on arrival. We had a delicious dinner that evening. A beautiful old villa below the walls of the city, recently renovated into a nice small hotel. Grand old rooms with high ceilings, wrought iron fixtures, indoor or outdoor breakfast. (All vegan, including fine pastries.) A short steep walk up stairs and paths to the “Porta all’Arco” gate to the city. Trees and singing birds all around the villa and all along the path up to the city wall gate. And Volterra is wonderful - fascinating Etruscan history, and not as crowded with tourists as Florence or San Gimigniano. And you can easily see all of Volterra on foot. We wished we had booked more time here.
