Great location! We had a beach front room and there were bars across the street…I was warned at check in that there may be noise due to this, but it was fine, I enjoyed the music from the balcony and once I closed the sliding door you could barely hear it…we slept good! We enjoyed the pools after a busy day. We really enjoyed our breakfast in restaurant Paraiso, the restaurant was clean, the service great and food was delicious! A few minute walk from the hotel, but we enjoyed it!

A sweet, unpolished beach town. There are no huge multinational hotels on the beach, just low-rise local hotels and apartments. The strip along the beach feels relaxed, calm and slightly down-at-heel. It's easy to explore on foot. As two solo women travellers, we felt safe throughout our stay, though we didn't leave the tourist area. The beach itself is huge and very long, with incredible surf waves. There is a small beach area at the north end where it's possible to swim, but the waves are still quite big, especially for children. There are lifeguards all along the beach. There are nice restaurants right on the beachfront, all serving the same simple food. We only stayed two nights - I think at least four nights are needed to really relax and get used to the pace of life here. There are also several excursions nearby which would have been fun if we'd had more time!

A huge long beach, Zicatela is a lovely place but will change very soon with all the development and construction going on.
Already lots of bars, restaurants, shops and hotels, but still relatively chilled at the moment.
Beware of what you carry, police search anyone they can on the beach to extort money!!

Even if a relatively small town the neighbourhoods are very different; Centro where the hotel is, more local people, Bacocho (a bit more hipster was my impression), Zicatela the touristic part with a lovely beach and Brisas de Zicatela where its mostly backpackers and surfers (its just off Punta Zicatela where the best waves are)

It grew on me. I didn't love it at first.
It grew on me. I didn't love it at first. I think its more suited to younger people than people in their mid 40s + who have already done the backpacking thing. Also I live on a beautiful beach in Australia so it's hard to be impressed by grey sand of Zacatelas beach.. However Carrizalillo beach was beautiful. I recommend visiting that beach while you are there.
I felt like a bit of a sellout as Puerto is not the real mexico, there are more Australians and Americans there than Mexicans it seems. So if you want an authentic Mexican experience you should go to Puebla or Mexico city, but if your looking for a chilled vibe on the beach then you will probably like Puerto.
You'll find better food in other parts of the country also - Oaxaca city, Meixco city, Puebla etc.
It's very hot there. but there's nothing much else to do than hang at the beach.

Overall was great trip.
Overall was great trip. The town feels more international compared to other places I’ve visited in mexico, it lacks that authentic Mexican feeling. The hotel was great, tucked away from the Main Street, very peaceful.

Best falafels and hummus et El Sultan on the Rinconada.
Best falafels and hummus et El Sultan on the Rinconada. Best whole bean coffee as well as cappuccino and cookies at Binisa Cafe. As expats living in San Agustinillo, an hour away, we find things in Puerto that we cannot find in San Agustinillo, Mazunte, or Zipolite. We found some really excellent sharp cheddar cheese at Super 69 grocery on the Rinconada, cans of white meat whole tuna packed in water also at Super 69, bought beautiful Talavera tile for our bathroom at the Talavera store on the Rinconada, and picked up health food products like chia at one of the many small health food stores in Puerto that sell bulk goods.

Cielito Lindo Suites are very conveniently located to restaurants and the beach. We had a first floor suite right by the pool. I liked sitting out on the bench by the pool and reading or making calls home. The pool was also great for swimming. Tania was very helpful with arranging taxis, giving me suggestions about places to eat and things to do. She went out of her way to help me set up a coffee tour which my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed. We would certainly stay there again if we come back to Puerto Escondido and I highly recommend it.
Very simple but no complaints
It needs to be understood that this is not a luxury hotel, it's quite basic accommodations.
It would be ideal for a no frills budget traveler, the sort who might stay in a hostel.
Indeed, my room had 3 large beds and resembled a hostel room.
It wasn't the bezt fit for me, an old guy not on a tight budget, but I can recommend it to those who need to watch the pennies and pesos.
The propery was clean, the staff was great and they tolerated my horrible Spanish with grace and humor
A quiet little paradies, you never wanna leave!! Me and my friend read all the good reviews and were curious. We arrived with a food poisoning from Mexico city and everyone was so caring and lovely, that we felt welcome and cosy from the first day. The villa is quiet and idyllic, it’s more like a big community space with pool, roof top terrace and great to meet your little crew for further puerto activities.
We feel really lucky, we found this place and ate already planning to come back :)
The staff, the beautifully decorated rooms and rooftop hammocks to relax in. This boutique hotel has such a relaxed and warm, welcoming vibe. I first stayed in Casa Beu in January and had to come here again for my second visit to Puerto Escondido. It's close to the main street in La Punta but far enough away for a quiet night's sleep. I almost don't want to let the secret out on how awesome this place is ;)
We loved to stay with Gio! The Cabana was absolutely perfect, with a kitchen equiped with all stuff you need. Located near La Punta you can get around quickly and Gio is always down for some advises, help or information. For enjoying the evening there is a pool to take a cool refreshing or the bar for cold beers. The best Hostel we had in Mexico, we will for sure come back :) Thanks Gio!
Jenny and Miguel were the best hotel staff i met in a long time, both super friendly and lovely, helped us with any issue we had and made the stay perfect. Really nice guys. They made us feel so welcomed! Thank you Jenny and Miguel!!! The Hotel is also really nice for the price, good area to stay in Puerto Escondido. Can definitely recommend!
What a beautiful, relaxing oasis!! We enjoyed our stay at Cabane Container hotel so much... pure luxury, starting with the beautifully designed suite, then the wonderful pool with warm water, and incredibly delicious food... what a total treat!! Highly recommended for unwinding, enjoying life, and pure relaxation
I had a wonderful stay and was impressed with the hotel and staff. Cindy, Ari, and Alejandro genuinely made me feel like so at peace and were all so attentive to my needs. The hotel is a short walk from playa carrizalillo, one of the most beautiful beaches in puerto Escondido. Great experience overall!
I absolutely loved my stay at Casa Menta, the hosts were super helpful and always answered quickly to my messages. I miss all the great time I had in Casa Menta and all the amazing memories I made in Puerto Escondido with my beloved boyfriend, writing this review just makes me super nostalgic 🥹❤️.
I had the pleasure of staying at Mi Puerto during my very short trip to Mexico and it was such a great choice! The hostel has just opened and everything is brand new and very clean. The aircon was definitely a plus!!! Staff was great and they made my trip much better :) will definitely be back!!
Very comfortable bed, nice clean spacious room. The owners spoke little english but were very helpful and let us check in early and also stored our bags after we checked out. Good air conditioning and hot water. One if the best rooms we stayed in during our visit to Mexico!
The staff is so sweet and helpful, honestly my best hotel experience in Puerto Escondido. Anything we needed they helped facilitate it for us. The food is so good and the pool is so lovely. The WiFi is really good, best WiFi we had on the coast.
The location is amazing as it is really close to the best beach in Puerto Escondido (La Punta), the food and drinks were also extraordinary, the facilities are top, the pool is great for chilling and the staff’s attention is top tier as well
400 peso cab ride to Zicatella or Puerto Escondido on a clean quiet neighborhood back street. It's owned and run by a local family and they are very hospitable and friendly. Rooms are clean and modern. My new go to in P.E.
The staff is super friendly and the place is very nice. We really enjoyed the time we were spending there. We could also borrow bikes to ride to the beach. This was one of our best stay in Mexico.
Very nice and helpful staff, parking lot for the car, beautiful garden with a pool, nice and clean room, and they have a travel cot for the baby which is one in million in Mexico.
Excellent location, beautiful view, rooftop (despite the neighbouring hotel, I still think this is the best rooftop in Puerto Escondido), pool and service
