Beautiful city.
Beautiful city. Excellent museum of modern art, de Fundatie. Beautiful bookstore inside an old church. The best cake and chocolates in the Netherlands at Bakkerij Lindeboom. Try my three favourites: Dark chocolate filled with 5-spice, dark chocolate with cardamom filling, and the milk chocolate filled with caramel and sea salt. Try the others too. Many are prize winning chocolates.

I was raining so we could not appreciate very much, but I am sure that the hystorical part of the city, for what I could have seen, is very interesting and charming. Very nice town with a lot of nice places where to stop for a drink of a coffee and good for shopping. The center is almost all pedestrian and it's perfect for a nice walk in this historical town from Overijssel.

I use Zwolle as a stopping point and each year on my way to Assen, I explore a little bit more through the narrow streets within the island. There are some fabulous places to eat and chill, its a lovely place.

While a bit outside of Zwolle and not easily accessible with public transport (around 5min walk to the nearest bus stop) this place is great for a stay. The room was spacious and equipped with everything you need for a short trip (free coffee, safe, hairdryer). The hotel also has bicycles available for rent--either as a regular bike or an ebike--and availability of the bikes was no issue. Upon special request, the bikes were even available before the regular pickup times.

The neighbourhood is really cute and has everything you might need close-by. We enjoyed wine and lunch on the terrace of Meli Melo; 3 minute walk. Jumbo supermarket right next to it. Train station and city centre are both a 10 minute walk away. Good restaurants in the centre, obviously, but we had a great dinner just outside of it, in Bistro De Buik van Parijs.
