We thought the location was perfect; within easy walking distance of the places we wanted to go to.
The room was very comfortable and clean. We booked at the last minute to watch the Christchurch Marathon and were able to have breakfast there after the start of the race and then walk to another viewing point along the course.

I attempted to book another 1 night and possibly 4 more. Could not do despite the rate being on booking.com. this was a Sunday night and the hotel was quiet. I left for another hotel after explaining the economics of empty rooms. Booking.com was ahead of the hotel in current rare. Training is required. I stayed 5 nights another hotel. Same rating but. Including parking was %_9 a night cheaper. The concierge did not out myluggage in the boot of my car as agreed. Therefore I was nit clothed properly for a night function. Totally unsatisftory experience from Japanese manager. Bad governance. Bad management. Horribly bad experience.

Probably the only good thing about the stay was that the bed was very comfortable, however the air-conditioning in the room could not be altered and was so loud I had to remove my card from the light slot to even be able to get to sleep! This of course invariably resulted in the room getting a bit stuffy - lose-lose situation.

I spent 4 months in NZ and for various reasons and at different times, stayed about 9 nights/days in Christchurch, alone and also with my husband. We loved the vibe of the city. It felt a happy place, offering everything a city has to offer but in an intimate way. It felt safe, clean and it was lovely to see families enjoying the public bbqs and spaces. Lots of greenery and parks. A place that felt traditional yet new. Great places to eat, drink and watch the world go by. Really loved this place and I am not a city person! Riccarton House and gardens was a highlight. There are plenty of places around to explore for day trips too and the second hand bookshops in Ferry Road area are the least expensive I have come across in NZ! Could definitely keep going back there, even just for the hospitality and genuine friendliness of the locals.

A great place that is still slowly recovering, but what has been achieved to date is to their credit. Albeit, there remains many good options for eating out & sightseeing. Take the tram for a quick overview!!

Our visit was shorter than we would of liked but I fully recommend the International Antarctic Centre - children loved it and we could of stayed longer, informational, fun, interactive and lots to do, husky puppy was gorgeous and Matua who greeted us was informative and korero was refreshing. The cafe was great and again even the children found food they liked.
We went to Build-a-Bear to create a keepsake of our trip and that was a fun activity - Mall was open to 9pm so we were able to pop down and not rush.
The Outlet Store for new Crocs - a must for Croc addicted children.
Christchurch Tram Tour - Is a must-do. (We have done this tour previously and were disappointed to not be able to go this visit)
Christchurch Library (Tūranga) - Interactive and fun, friendly people.
We had hired a Campervan to travel in and there was a lot of areas that you could park a Camper so that was great for us to pull over and walk around.
We didn't do as much sightseeing as we would have liked but we have decided to book again for a few more days there as we spent more time in Dunedin then we expected.
We did miss going to Cookie Time as traffic was horrendous so that needs to be planned better for our next time down there.

We only had half a day in Christchurch (arrived at night, then flew out at 5pm next day) but even that was too much time to spend here! I wouldn't want to come back again. There wasn't anything interesting to see or do, apart from the "Quake City" exhibit which was good. Walked thru the botanic gardens and around the "city centre" but it was pretty much a ghost town, with hardly any people or tourists around and not really any good shops. We kept Googling for things to do, but ended up just sitting in the cafe at a Mitre 10 hardware store to fill in time til we had to go to the airport. I guess this city is more of a base for flying into (more flights than Queenstown) and for exploring further away sites.
We were picked up only 5 min after a call to the Sudima. Van driver was friendly and helpful, considering it was after midnight , we were impressed. Check in was easy. Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and we were well rested and ready to start our holiday, we were even offered a lift back to the airport to collect our hire car. Driver Ken gave us lots of advice for our trip. This hotel so close to the airport and way cheaper than any other accomodation I looked up, we were beyond impressed.
Budget hotel near airport - about 20min walk from room to departure lounge....less if you don't have luggage. Half the walk had covered area. If it rains may be a problem.
Good for early morning flights. Countdown and mall was just next door. The mall had good selection of restaurants (Chinese, Mexican, Burger and Cafe) and fast foods (McD, KFC, Subway)
Had everything that we needed. Self check in but instructions were clear. Very quiet secure location. Very good underground car park. Again very secure. Within easy walking distance of central Christchurch and sites. More like an AirBNB than a apartment hotel. Seemed as if the other apartments were occupied by permanents.
Our stay was only for 1 night prior to flying from Christchurch airport. The location close to the airport was ideal. Although we did not use it, there is a complimentary shuttle service to the airport. Very good car parking at the hotel.
The reception staff and those in the restaurant were very helpful and friendly
Tidy, you get what you paid for, cheap. Showers good presure, unit spacious, pets ok. Close to shops. Staff friendly, but ignored long term tenant issues in night which is rude when your a paying customer and traveled far and want a good night's rest, was quite frightening, tempted to call cops it was that bad.
Lena and Peter always make me feel like I am coming home. They keep a very clean, well run motel. Location is great, I take the bus from the airport to a stop around the corner. I have stayed here for over twenty years under two different managements. Only place I will stay in Christchurch.
Great location, really genuine friendly staff, clean well equipped comfortable rooms that have all you really need, and a very good restaurant attached to the hotel. Great pub just down the road as well. Easy to find from Airport and only ten minutes into CBD.
The Riccarton Hotel is in a great location, it has recently been refurbished. There are many good places to eat nearby, and it is a short walk to Hagley Park, close to the city centre, plus not too far from the airport.
The managers are friendly and helpful.
This is our second stay at the Chateau, it was as good as the 1st time. The hotel is excellent from a location point of view, gardens, close to Hagley Park and CBD. We have stayed at other hotels in Christchurch and the Chateau by far is our preferred hotel.
Great high-end hotel at Christchurch airport; barely a minute's walk to the terminal. Hotel seems brand new as everything is so clean. Rooms really spacious, comfortable and well equipped. Loved the restaurant and bar on the top floor too.
Location is good, near to restaurants, supermarket and mall. Near Botanic garden and city center, Short drive to Christchurch Airport. Hotel room is clean and spacious but is dated. Kitchen well equip and meet our need. Good parking space.
Location of the hotel is perfect - literally right beside Christchurch Airport. Perfect for travelers who have early flights out of town. The hotel restaurant is a life-saver as all the shops in the airport close early.
The lodge was quite close to the CBD so short drive to see sights. The kitchenette was handy for breakfast and grocery store was within walking distance of the hotel. Also, Easy access to the airport.
Excellent Location right across the road from Westfield Riccarton a huge mall with many good shops. Also close to numerous eateries. Ample Free onsite parking. Fairly close to Christchurch Airport.
