The hotel was fantastic. Location right on the lake with great views, very very friendly staff and good clean rooms. We were late one morning to breakfast (which is also a huge great buffet) and they let us get a good breakfast anyway. Everyone there is super friendly. Parking is right out the door so that is very easy too. Great value and experience for our family.

Everything. We were very surprised with all the finer details that our motel room had. We don't see much of these in kiwi motels now.

I like that Te Anau is somewhere to stay for visiting Milford Sounds and also for a cruise on Lake Manapouri. It is also the gateway to many other activities. There is a good road in and plenty of good eating places and the supermarket Fresh Choice has an excellent bakery.

Great place to enjoy the Great walks of New Zealand.
Great place to enjoy the Great walks of New Zealand.
We did the Keplar track for 3 days and it was amazing. The scenery is breath taking and we got some outstanding whether. It even snowed on our hike which wasn't really expected for the time of year. The Huts were all clean and tidy and the Hutt Wardens do such a great job of keeping everyone informed and safe. Would recommend this Hike. It was also nice to come back and stay at a comfortable and reasonably priced place. Great Hot showers and comfortable rooms. We will be back.

People often only go to Te Anau just to take the Milford Sound tour. There is so much for to see and do! It really is a place to just relax.
Whether it's late night strolls to the souvenir stores or restaurants or taking walks along the amazing lake views that aren't crowded by other people.
If you ever want to try out cycling, Te Anau is the place to do it. Not much traffic and the price for bike hire is cheaper than Queenstown.
If you're in on a Sunday, go visit The Life Church that. A loving warm and friendly community over there.
When it comes to food, I found food shopping, Chinese food and other restaurant prices were cheaper than Queenstown. Oh, and souvenirs are also cheaper here too.

I just love the relaxed surroundings of Te Anau, it's one of my favorites destinations for a few'nights-getaway..there is lots to do and if you're adventurous you can do even more! Amazing nature, the lake is just stunning, township is not too big but has all you could want/need. Brilliant food places...love The Ranche and the Moose. Redcliff restaurant and bar is a unexpected find, quaint and quirky but great food and staff. Overall, Te Anau is a beautiful destination if you're looking for somewhere not too touristy (at least, it doesn't feel that way)

This is a nice location which has everything.
This is a nice location which has everything. The town centre has everything that you would need. Friendly people in shops and businesses. Great range of different restaurants. Excellent tourist attractions. Very convenient to Milford Sound - 2 hours through stunning countryside. A lot better to travel from Te Anau to Milford Sound or Doubtful Sound than to come from Queenstown - 4 hours travel
The best place we found to eat and just chill at was Red Cliff Bar and Restaurant - friendly staff, exceptional food and first rate service.
A couple of must do's are: Wings and Water (float plane) with Ivan and Cruise Te Anau with Peter. Both locals, highly entertaining and knowledgeable.

This is a great, very small town that makes a great stay to see the Fiordlands. Stay at a location with a view of the lake. Activities from here are a great choice. The lake and mountains are beautiful and eat at the Ranch, best place we ate on both islands.
Nothing fancy, but very comfortable and clean. A queen bed in the bedroom, two singles in the living area, all very comfortable and warm (stayed in late March). The little kitchen was outfitted with all the dishes we needed for our cereal breakfasts and takeout dinners. I'm sure we could have cooked If we had wanted to. It has a mini fridge, not a full fridge, which was fine for us. Te Anau was a great location for seeing Milford Sound and the beautiful scenery and hikes in between.
Location was good, then again Te Anau is a very small town. There are many different facilities for guests esp kids. There are two other campgrounds nearby which we saw with better facilities. We got a corner self contained unit which was great with privacy in a crowded place. Dedicated parking which is good. Receptionist who checked us in was very pleasant with her little assistant.
The very cute resident cat was friendlier than the Easter weekend receptionist.
Just 10 minutes by car out of Te Anau, this lodge is a little slice of heaven! From your very own cabin - which has everything in it (including space) that you need to lay your weary head for the night - the views over the mountains are stunning! Then just trot up the slope to the main building where you will find the best equipped kitchen in NZ and a lovely lounge to dine/relax/read/chat/play in! What a find - and excellent value for money!
We stayed in the older section and were put in a suite with two bedrooms, a sitting area and kitchenette. Way more space than we needed but it was nice to have! The building manager lives on site and was very attentive. It's very dated but that didn't bother us at all. Very clean and comfortable and just off Lake Te Anau. Easy walk into town for restaurants, groceries etc. as well as a walking trail along the lake.
Such a wonderful place to stay! The unit was beautiful, spacious, and exceptionally clean. we came back each day to clean towels and a freshly made bed, which was a wonderful touch. Annie was so friendly and welcoming, and even did our laundry for us. We would absolutely recommend staying here during your visit to Te Anau!
Great motel, in a convenient, quiet location. Short walk along the lake into the town centre to all the restaurants, bars & shops. We stayed in a 2 bed motel room, very comfortable with all the facilities & amenities needed for a short holiday. Would definitely stay again if ever in Te Anau again. Thanks Robin!
The location was great, being just a few minutes to walk into town.
It is also opposite Lake Te Anau, which has a lovely walk along the lakefront.
The hotel is spacious and our room was a good size with a lovely view of the lake.
All the staff we met, were very friendly and helpful.
We were pleasantly surprised by this very new and clean motel. The rooms are spacious with an extra living area and conveniently located close to the beach and town centre.
Great stay for going jet boating or glow worm watching at Te Anau and as a base for the trip to Milford Sound.
This motel was clean and the facilities excellent. Very handy to the town centre. We enjoyed the trip to Milford Sound and the cruise out to the sea. Great drive from Te Anau to Milford through the Homer tunnel. Lots of stops on way to look at mirror lakes and waterfalls.
Price quality ratio was really good. Kingsgate Hotel has everything you need for a couple of days in Te Anau and the staff were very accommodating about us leaving the car for a few more days as we went on excursions. The room was big, clean and relatively quiet.
No breakfast provided. Most other small motels we’ve stayed in here in New Zealand provide a small bottle of milk for hot drinks, cereal, etc. Aden Motel had some very small containers of milk, but not a small bottle.
The space was clean, tidy, and spacious. Definitely good value for the cost for our brief stay in Te Anau. The location is near the center of the (small) downtown. Book a tour and visit Milford Sounds while your here!
Very clean room.
Accessible facilities were very good within the room
Staff were delightful
Excellent cats
Well decorated, and seems newly refurbished
Quiet
Near Lake Te Anau and parking right outside.
Friendliest motel in Te Anau. Everything you need and more plus within walking distance to the best pie shop in the world!
I would definitely stay here again, you can't go wrong.
The 2 rooms with beds were very spacious, The wi-fi was fast and reliable. The location was in a very quiet area and the central part of Te Anau was close enough to walk to.
The basic lodge rooms at Lakeview Holiday Park are perfect for trampers needing a bed in Te Anau before tackling one of the excellent walking tracks in the area.
