The Colca Canyon was worth the visit, not just for the condors. Plan a walk in the park.
If you are interested in hot springs, go directly to the modern structure 5 kilometers from the town center.
If you like to see the stars, plan a visit to the planetarium.

Chivay is small but doesn't over-promise.
Chivay is small but doesn't over-promise. It's a great start-point for tours, trips, walks and the rest. The local facilities - thermal baths, bars, restaurants etc - are pretty good and it's close enough to other places (Yanque, Corporaque et al) to walk or bus to get some variety - for example, the thermal baths at Colca Lodge were excellent (but don't believe Lonely Planet - they're not in Corporaque, it's another 5km down the road which comes as a surprise if you choose to walk). Highlight would be the planetarium which was great - very low-key but they were helpful and brought things to life, setting up their telescopes to all sorts of constellations or planets.
What an incredible view! The waterfall behind the hotel provides a lovely background of flowing water and the view through the canyon is just stunning. I was unfortunately very sick during our stay, but could see that the staff were genuinely concerned for my well-being and did everything they could to ensure I had what I needed and was comfortable. Very grateful to them for taking such good care of me!
We booked this hotel to fit in with a 2 day tour to Colca Canyon frm Arequipa and on to Puno. The staff were very helpful when we arrived and my wife was ill with stomach trouble and altitude sickness. The bed was very comfortable and she spent a good night recovering. There was hot water in the shower in the morning and they served an adequate breakfast very early.
The hotel is simple. The location, direct in the main square, is OK, having into account the Chivay is a tiny town. Easy to find, you will find and reach nearly everything by foot.
The rooms are also OK: the bed is comfortable and the bath was clean.
Our personal highlight: the staff. They helped us a lot and were accesible and helpful the whole time.
Very comfortable cabin in a serene setting. The bed was very comfortable and the room was clean. The heater was appreciated as it gets quite cold in Chivay. Breakfast was a buffet with plenty of options. The fire and traditional music performed in the breakfast area made for a wonderful morning.

Everything was great. Spacious room, comfortable beds, hot shower and amazing breakfast. The owner was very nice, she helped us with information and organized for us a tour to Colca canyon. Highly recommended place to stay.
Excellent hotel with different pools of thermal waters and a good restaurant. The landscape is amazing, as the hotel is located within the canyon and just next to the river. Stuff was helpful and friendly. Would stay again
Luggages can be left for the day at the hotel when leaving but not in a secured area.
Hot water bottles can be provided on demand.
Very nice chilling area, under a sort of greenhouse, very nice when the weather is cold.
The Hotel staff is very friendly and present,
everything worked out A-Ok. The rooms are tidy, there are lots of blankets for cold nights. Pricing is fair, people and atmosphere are great.
