Leaving the main road you wind your way up into the hills a short distance to find the hotel at the bottom of a lovely hill top town. The hotel is a collection of old and new, the new being very contemporary architecture with a lot of particle board and fair faced concrete walls, not to everyone's taste perhaps. The finishes, especially outside, are looking a bit tired and in need of repainting to spruce them up. Our bedroom balcony had a planting strip over the retaining wall below and most of the plants were dead with weeds growing up. This somewhat spoilt the wonderful view across the valley to terraced slopes of olive trees and grape vines. The mineral pool did of course smell sulphurous but was warm and soothing, a quiet grassed area adjacent had sun loungers. Again the pool was looking rather unkempt with a black 'litter' of leaves or mould in the bottom, regular cleaning would solve this. Staff were very pleasant but not all spoke English so be ready with the phrase book. The evening meal menu had a good selection and our meals were delicious and wines very good and reasonably priced. Breakfast had a reasonable selection but the warming plate was not working so the cooked food was cold. The hotel has won many awards pre-covid presumably when it opened and will again once the management get on top of the maintenance and some refurbishment.

Very nice place and amazing owners.
The breakfast was special. The tour in the cheese museum was very interessting. We enjoy the environment.
The accommodation was a lovely converted house with a wine press that is still on display. The location was great as it was in the centre of Marialva so we could visit the village and castle in the morning. The house was very clean and the rooms were comfortable. Dona Guida and her family were very welcoming and prepared a wonderful breakfast in the morning with local and homemade products. Everything had a very personal touch and we just felt like we were at home. We would definitely return and recommend to anyone visiting the area.
It's a lovely location, quiet with a great hill top breeze. The pool is really beautiful and I love the fact the swallows come every summer and skim the top of the water for a seconds as they fly over it. The space is really nice, breakfast is good and the hotel offers a lot of activities you can book up. The Wine tasting at Quinta do Ermervoira (spelling) and the boat trip are particularly good. If you go with children book one the suites- great value for a whole family. Also a very romantic spot for a couple.
it is a property of three houses with a swimming pool. The owners live in one of the houses, a very friendly and helpful couple.
the construction of the houses is quite recent and they offer comfort conditions (example air conditioning)
We really enjoyed the days we spent at the house, allowing us to get to know Marialva, one of the 12 historic villages in Portugal, as well as other locations/areas in the region (example Foz Côa)
Marisa is an incredible host. The property was excellent, clean and comfortable. She greeted us with a smile and shared her knowledge of the history of Marialva. Her welcoming demeanor and warmth were a a pleasant surprise. Her warm breakfast was incredible and her tour of the cheese museum was well received. I would recommend a visit to this sleepy town. Well-worth the drive. Obrigada Marisa!
Charming property with great location in the heart of Marialva. The hostess was very friendly and knowledgeable. Make sure to tour her small Museo do Queijo across the street to learn about traditional cheese-making in the region. She served a fine breakfast, including some of the sheep’s milk cheese she makes.
The location, the building, the gardens, pool . The breakfast choice was phenomenal better than a 5 star hotel breakfast. The host Patricia was lovely, very hospitable and there was plenty of room for my dog to run around. Very peaceful.
