Magical setting, great for relaxing after a day of exploring Madeira. Wish I could have stayed longer. We saw the best sunset from the pool.
It's just as beautiful in person as it is in the photos

This place was absolutely outstanding!!
Not only by far the best place I stayed in Madeira but one of the best I've stayed in the world!!
I booked this place as a chill out space for near the end of my trip to Madeira as I knew I would be hiking a lot (I was) and I would need a place to relax and recover.
Well this was that and more.
Joao messaged me to ask what time I would arrive and when I did I parked my car and he met me.
Joao is a gentleman, a very nice guy and you can see he has put a lot of love into this project.
I also appreciate that he met me and chatted to me and gave some tips on where to go for food and sightseeing.
The apartment itself was just amazing.
It's so well decorated, with floor to ceiling glass doors and windows on one side and it lets in so much light.
There was complimentary wine, a nice big TV for watching movies in the evening, the bed was fantastic, and waking up to that view everyday was a great mood lifter.
Both evenings I sat on the balcony to watch the sunset over the ocean with a glass of wine and it was so so nice.
This is what holidays are all about, proper relaxation.
There is a nice little bar/cafe only 1 min walk away which also has a great view of the sunset too and less than a 5 min drive away there is a few nice restaurants and a shop.
I had high expectations of this place and it massively exceeded even them.
I highly highly recommend this place and hopefully I may stay here again if it isn't booked out.
One of the highlights of my trip and one of the best places I have ever stayed anywhere.

The room had an amazing view from the balkony. Sleeping with the sound of the waves was great.. Breakfast was really nice, big choice of fruit, cheeses, warm dishes and pastries. When I arrived, I got a free entry to the natural pools which are definitely worth a visit! So much nicer than the usual hotel pools.
This small hotel in the west of Madeira offers a restaurant, a bar and panoramic views of the ocean. It is 100 metres from the beach and close to the village of Calheta.
The hotel Atrio is a small family run rural hotel located on the sunny south side of Madeira Island.

I liked how close it was to the city center and also advise from the receptionist where to go for a 'light dinner'. Staff was really helpful and nice!

The property is in a beautiful and quiet location just 1km from the centre of the village (where there are several restaurants and a supermarket). The bus stop is just a few minutes walk away and the property is a great starting point for a 6km walk through local hamlets and along the nearby levada.

If di you want to go for a dinner at restaurant Au forno, you have to book in advance. We came at 19.00 and found no place. probably good restaurant, but we could not enjoy it.

Ponta do Pargo is at the extreme western tip of Madeira and so is quite a long drive from Funchal or the airport (realistically up to 2 hours). Once there, though, you have spectacular views over the high cliffs (no access to the shore, but the hotel has a good-sized pool). There is good restaurant in the hotel and several others nearby and in the village (about 2 km away). A good base for local walking and exploring the western end of the island.

We were made very welcome even though we arrived too early.
We were made very welcome even though we arrived too early. You are not in the village so unless you have a car the walk is down and back up the other side of the valley. About 20-25 minutes. Local walks to two different viewpoints which were easy from the house and the village. Very nice sitting out area in the garden.
