We loved everything about this place! The location was perfect. Not too far off the main road, but far enough to feel like you were secluded and had privacy. The house itself was very comfortable. It felt like home instantly! The beds where comfortable and you had everything you would need and more to make a wonderful meal. The view out back was stunning! Everything was amazing! Our host was amazing and quick to respond to any questions we had.
Touristy small town with a lot of varied personalities.
Touristy small town with a lot of varied personalities. It's a gateway to Big Bend Natl Park. I guess there's a lot of festivals of various types throughout the year there that would be fun. Not far from the mountains I didn't know were in W. Texas. I will go back to the area seeing as how I want to explore Big Bend, don't know if I'd choose Alpine as a destination, I'd try other locations.

Quaint West Texas motel within driving distance to Big Bend and Maria. Good restaurants and cute little town for shopping. Murals were beautiful. Town is largely closed Mon-Tues-Wed so visit on other days if you want to shop.

We expected Alpine to be like many small West Texas towns:...
We expected Alpine to be like many small West Texas towns: slowly and sadly dying. But to our pleasant surprise, Alpine was a vibrant little town nestled in a pretty desert valley. It even has a "Rush Hour", as we jokingly called it, when one of the mile-long trains creeps through the middle of town in the morning and evening and stops traffic.

The big attraction of Alpine is (relatively) nearby Big Bend National Park. Alpine itself, however, is quite interesting - some good restaurants, a university, the Museum of the Big Bend, and Marfa close by. We ate at the Holland House Hotel (good food and cocktails) and Giuzzi Pizza (a good salad and a good pizza). This is a fascinating part of the United States that attracts a lot of European visitors because of its ruggedness and Far West feel. I highly recommend it.

Between Fort Davis, Terlingua and Marfa, Alpine had much more going on when we visited on Saturday and Sunday after Thanksgiving. The Holland Hotel was as delightful as the photos and was a splendid choice for the last stay location for our trip. The restaurant was open for dinner (the prime rib dinner was excellent) and the Century Bartender was a delight as well.

This trip was so much fun!!
This trip was so much fun!! We went to the McDonalds Observatory, Fort Davis and toured the fort. Marfa and viewed the Marfa lights, simply amazing. Hike at Fort Davis State Park. Relaxed and enjoy the local food establishments. We will be back. One word of advice is to Be sure and make reservation at the State Parks.
We had a wonderful stay here! Great spacious room that was, clean cool and very functional. The microwave and fridge was a big plus. If you're walking (we were probably the only guests EVER to have done that) it's 30 minutes outside of central Alpine. Driving here is just a few minutes and most of the other hotels in Alpine are out here. The room had a giant comfy bed and a couch as well. Lots of storage space and a desk. Check in/out was really eaay in the diner that's next to the hotel. They even got us our room early!
Hotel Parker was perfect location closing out our Chisos Basin camping trip at BBNP before returning to Dallas. Facilities were clean, bright and comfortable. While we did not use the on-site restaurant, my daughter-in-law and I did take advantage of wellness spa and had massages. This was a nice treat after camping and hiking. All staff were kind and responsive. There is plenty of parking and hotel is located just on outskirts of town for a quiet night.
This charming tiny house, built in a shipping container, looks out on the gorgeous desert landscape of west Texas. The house is part of a group of tiny houses on the outskirts of Alpine Tx, 100 miles north of Big Bend. The town is tiny but quaint and friendly, no pretensions. This house has absolutely every item you’d want in a full sized vacation rental. And the views from the roof are to die for.
very nice and clean hotel. As usually in the US missed veggies a bit for breakfast, but still it was tasty and good. Quite place, though it stands on the road. Easy to find. Indoor pool and SPA, which is so great to have after a day of trails and exploring Big Band NP. Nice mountain view from the back of the hotel, nice outdoor lounge zone. Definitely would come back to stay in this hotel again
Perfect place to stay in Alpine! Adorable beautifully kept house, a great combination of vintage and up to date. Walking distance into town. The host was so accommodating and very responsive to questions. HIGHLY RECOMMEND for visitors to Alpine, Marfa, and Big Bend National Park.
My favorite thing was the pool. I'm rarely tempted by a hotel pool, but this one was so clean and so big that I just had to swim in it. I could take 12 strokes in it, so it was big enough to actually swim in.
I loved the tile floors and the heavy wooden furniture.
They have a GREAT cleaning staff who will assist where they can although there hands may be tied with some requests. I imagine the owners just may not know everything about running a hotel and if taught could learn so much more.
Convenient to central Alpine: Short walk to Bread and Breakfast, Holland Hotel, Reata Restaurant, AMTRAK station.
Short drive to event venue at Alpine City Hall.
Free WiFi.
Price was right.
The hotel was exactly what I expected. The breakfast was nice enough - you could make your own waffles, other hot food items, etc. Quiet hotel. Didn't get a chance to try out the pool.
The place is good if you are going to stay in Alpine for while, but not great if you are just passing by for 1 night. For what we paid, may have been better of in a Hotel around.
