Set in Outokumpu, 49 km from Valamon Monastery, Hotelliravintola Kumpu offers accommodation with a terrace, free private parking, a restaurant and a bar. Flexibility at check-in as it turned out that the hotel was closed on Sundays. I had booked the room online only an hour earlier - no mention of the closing. The phone number on the door put me in touch with their receptionist who arrived in less than two minutes. Friendly service. Big breakfast buffet, if you like the traditional way: oatmeal, Karelian pastries, apples and jams of the season....bacon and eggs.

Breakfast was ok, nothing special but kept the hunger away for few hours.

This hotel is by Joensuu’s main square and 500 metres from Joensuu Central Station. It has 3 restaurants, a bar and a night club. Free sauna, hot tub and WiFi access is included. Vaakuna is a good choice when staying in Joensuu as it is centrally located and offers all the comforts. We enjoyed our stay and will return.

This hotel is right by the River Pielisjoki and 200 metres from Joensuu Station. It has a restaurant, pub and a nightclub. Free Wi-Fi is included in all rooms at Original Sokos Hotel Kimmel Joensuu. We had an excellent stay here at this hotel. It is across the way from the train station, so it is very convenient. The hotel is large and the rooms are modern and clean. We had great breakfasts and also visited the hotel's sauna for an extra 15 euros. It had two hot tubs, a cold tub, sauna, steam room, and an "experience" shower not to be missed. A great hotel!

Set in Koli National Park, this hotel offers ski-to-door access from Ukko-Koli ski slope. It has a grill restaurant and spa with indoor pools, outdoor hot tubs and 3 saunas. Wi-Fi is free. Great view and location, good breakfast and restaurant, terrace with a view, nice staff, the FREE sauna in 3rd floor was a hidden gem. A lot better than the spa.

This quiet countryside hotel is located on the shore of Lake Pielinen. It offers sauna facilities and a large indoor pool, plus free Wi-Fi and parking. Nice and quiet hotel. The staff is very friendly. The breakfast is quite sufficient. The hotel's location is great for hikers, Kolini, Patvinsuo and Ruunaa national parks are about 40 minutes away by car. We recommend the hotel to everyone who enjoys the peace of nature. After a day's hiking, a warm sauna awaited us. There is a barbecue hut in the yard, where a larger meal is also prepared.
