We have arrived.witha late plane to Flores and one staff member (Chepe, who has done everything to make us enjoy our staying) was there to allow us to have dinner, even if the kitchen was already closed. Breakfast was very good and energetic enough for some great walking among the Mayan temples. Estuardo, the owner, welcomed us the morming following our arrival and was great to talk to him. We have enjoyed the peace, the nature, the sense of calmness and balance that El Gringo Perdido spread. I recommend an early wake up to fully appreciate the beauty of the place. We'll be back for sure.

Davvero bella, con un letto comodissimo e gigante, cuscini memory, posizione fantastica e tranquilla, con le sole scimmie urlatrici a disturbare ogni tanto di notte (ma poi mettevo i tappi e non sentivo più, poi era esattamente l'esperienza che cercavo). Anche il bagno, al piano sotto, è grande e molto bello. Ovviamente, essendo aperta, si convive con insetti e varie, ma la zanzariera in condizioni perfette li tiene lontani dal letto.

The whole experience, right from the greeting to our departure was very positive. The owner and his family were very pleasant and most helpful. The room had a nice balcony area with a good view and comfortable hammock. Everything was spotlessly clean.

We went on the excursion to Tikal, arranged with the hotel, which was perfectly organized. Highly qualified guide, the most comfortable car we had in Guatemala, beautiful lunch with fresh towels to clean up after the jungle walking, and most of all, the best walk through the Tikal ruins! The guide will take you on secret trails and tell you about birdlife, animal life, + the history of Tikal. Amazing experience! Our highlight in Guatemala. Celebrate with the highly recommended Parilla / barbeque on the restaurant menu! Villa Maya is great value for money and is a very comfortable stay in Guatemala. Also the Best breakfast!

I am unsure if it was because we had just spent two nights in the painful, sweltering heat of the jungle (45 degrees Celsius) with no air conditioning and anything with an air conditioner would have made us happy, but we loved this place the instant we arrived! We were welcomed by a delicious jamaica juice welcome drink and a very friendly lady at reception. We were surprised to learn that there was a complementary 1-hour boat ride on the lake every day at 16:45 and that the temazcal (sauna) was also included in the price of the accommodation. The property grounds included a wonderfully kept garden and open grass area by the lakeside as well as a forested area where we say monkeys, squirrels, hummingbirds, iguanas, etc. The gardener Martin was very friendly and saw that we were interested in seeing wildlife, so he pointed out the monkeys (called "bonitos") and told us the local names of the birds and even treated us to some fish seeding. It seems that the stale bread from the restaurant is used to feed the fish at the lake every morning. There were hundreds, if not thousands, of hungry fish gobbling up the bread that we threw into the lake, The room itself was heaven - a beautiful view from the balcony, air conditioning, and a lot of space. We were told at reception that internet was not available in the rooms, but we were surprised to find a network with a very strong, stable, and fast internet connection. This worked out perfectly for me as I was able to work comfortably inside the air conditioned room. There was a table provided in the room, which I turned into my desk. All but one person working at the hotel (a male at reception) were very friendly, from reception staff to restaurant staff, to the gardener. The food at the restaurant is pricey, but good. Note that there really isn't a choice nearby, so you are stuck with the hotel restaurant unless you have your own transport or would like to shell out money for tuk tuks.

Molto accogliente e curato. Essendoci la piscina e anche l’uscita verso il lago, è Ideale per qualche giorno in relax e svago. Tutto lo staff è super professionale e pronto a gestire le richieste, organizzare escursioni e spostamenti. La cucina è ottima.

I cannot express how clean and organized the rooms are! Not to mention that they are very spacious. When we arrived we were greatest by some very friendly staff, the location of the hotel was also very convenient! Nice restaurant near by and not much of a walking distance from the entrance of the island. We were lucky enough to go during the weekend of the islands celebrations and let me tell you! We got an excellent view!

I loved the lake view and the Hammock on the balcony. The AC worked great thankfully since it was very very hot! The free breakfast was good and the staff are all very friendly! The shower was okay, not hot, not cold.

I think it was my favorite hotel in Guatemala! It's right on the lake shore, in a charming white building with blue balconies. It has a kind of colonial-Mediterranean feel. We didn't have a view of the lake, but rather of the city. However, I still enjoyed watching people stroll around in the evenings. They also have a terrace overlooking the lake, where you can go to admire the view. And the restaurant where you have breakfast also faces the lake. The room was good, clean, and very comfortable. And the location is excellent, close to the Peten sign, where all transportation departs. The island is small, but those 10-15 minutes still matter when your bus leaves at 05:00 in the morning.
