Housed in a historic building from 1876, Opus XVI, an Edvard Grieg Heritage Hotel, is a luxury hotel located in central Bergen featuring individually designed rooms and suites. The hotel was located right in the middle of Bergen, perfect and central to everything. The hotel was absolutely beautiful, opulent surroundings and nothing like this in New Zealand. It was historical and we loved it. The staff at reception were so helpful and friendly, they even helped take bags up to our room. Which as a very nice room - one of the few with a view over the harbour. We love the half day cruise up the fjord - well worth it.

The guests staying here are more travelists rather than tourists so the vibe is different from those hotels located downtown. We intended to be outside the hotel as much as we could and all the hotels' facilities meet our satisfactions.

Beautiful hotel with friendly staff. The lobby is welcoming and fun. Amazing breakfast buffet even over the busy Easter weekend. Rooms were spacious with space for ski storage. Location is fantastic, beside train station and gondola.
