We had such a great time with Mario and Julia, and our stay at Isla Taquile wouldn't have been nearly as good without their company. Mario greeted us at the port when we arrived, and later in the day showed us around the island, explaining about inca ruins and answering all our questions about the culture and lifestyle of the people living on the island. Our room was clean and comfortable with many blankets, a table and chairs, and electric outlets (although Mario said only some of the rooms have this as of today). The shower was hot and Julia cooked us delicious food for dinner (additional cost) and breakfast (included in the booking). We also got to see a weaving demonstration by Julia, and bought some beautiful homemade textile crafts from them. There was spotty Entel reception on some parts of the island, but not in the village/accommodation; apparently Bitel works better on the island, but we didn't try it ourselves. We drank the water from the tank at their place with no issue, but they have boiled drinking water for guests if needed. I'd say some knowledge of Spanish is an advantage to get the most out of a stay here, as Mario and Julia speak Spanish and Quechua but not English. All in all an excellent way to get to experience the island and its culture!

Located 4 blocks from the main square, Taquile Familia Celso offers accommodations in Quinuapata. A complimentary breakfast is served daily. Rooms here are fitted with shared bathroom facilities. Dom gościnny Celso mieści się jak wszystkie na wzgórzu, właściciele odbierają swoich gości w portu i tak też było tym razem co było bardzo miłe bo nie musiałyśmy błądzić. Piękny domek z ogródkiem, z widokiem na jezioro i okolicę. Pod prysznicem gorąca woda cały czas co nie zdarza się często. Mydło i papier toaletowy. W pokojach czysto i przytulnie, jest wieszak i krzesło oraz szafka pomiędzy łóżkami. Na miejscu można skorzystać z wyżywienia przygotowanego przez żonę Celso oraz jej siostrę. Częstowano też pyszną herbatą z miejscowej mięty lub koki. Wszyscy bardzo serdeczni. Celso zabrał nas na wycieczkę po okolicy opowiadając o historii i zwyczajach wyspy- to było naprawdę bardzo miłe. Czułyśmy się zaopiniowane pod każdym kątem. To miejsce będzie idealne dla każdego kto potrzebuje odpocząć od pustyni lub miejskiego zgiełku. My spędziłyśmy wspaniałe chwile leniuchując na trawie w ogrodzie. Nocą widok rozgwieżdżonego nieba wart każdych pieniędzy. Drugiego dnia po śniadaniu rodzina Celso urządziła nam pokaz tkanin które wyrabiają - to naprawdę misterne dzieła sztuki i cieszymy się że mogłyśmy kupić dla siebie takie pamiątki. Podczas pokazu dostałyśmy kolejną porcję ciekawostek o miejscowych zwyczajach. Nie ma lepszego sposobu by poznać życie na wyspie. Bardzo dziękujemy ❤️❤️

They gave me a better room than the one I booked because they had it free for that night.

Richar, Lucrezia and Isabella are very lovely people and very generous hosts. Richar told us about the island and showed us around, Lucrezia’s cooking is truly wonderful and Isabella is a very nice girl, who would play cards with us in the evening. The rooms are very clean, there is a hot shower and it’s an easy walk from the port of Amantani. The island itself is so peaceful and tranquil, a perfect rest. At night the stars are magestic with Milky Way visible with naked eye. I would highly recommend staying at Richar’s place to experience the magic of the island in its authenticity. Also, from what I’ve read it is much better for the families who live on the island to book a stay directly with them rather than through an agency.

Inca lodge - Amantani is located 37 km from Puno Port in Amantani island. Featuring a restaurant, the property also has a terrace. Every room includes a balcony. The accommodation is located in the community on the opposite side respect where the boat from Puno arrives. That's permitted to be the only tourist in this side of the island during our stay. You have to consider 20 soles per person to reach the accommodation from the pier with a motorbike. Otherwise you need at least 1 hour and 30 minute of walk. The host family is amazing, Justa prepared delicious meals and joined us for a while for the walking up to pacha mama on the top of the island. Amantanì is magic, it is a rural island surrounded by the lake. Stunning scenario where to relax and take great pictures. The night sky from the house is unforgettable.
