The room was clean and tidy, the bed extremely comfortable. In the accommodation you feel very cozy, and it is a great place if you have come to rest. The fact that you check in online and that you open all the doors with codes contributes to the whole experience because you have total privacy. We would definitely stay here again!

A beautiful, historical city with loads of cultural things to do and see. Easy to understand why it will be the European Capital of Culture in 2021. People are lovely and friendly. The architecture is spectacular. Fantastic food and museums. A great mix of traditional charm and the sense of a modern, young city. I absolutely loved it. A great place to eat is the 'Fabrica di bere' - a traditional brewery with traditional Banat cuisine. We went 3 times! Also 'Garage Cafe' is the best spot for coffee in the city - they roast their own beans and serve fresh squeezed OJ in a lovely courtyard.

When you get lost on even the smallest streets of Timisoara,...
When you get lost on even the smallest streets of Timisoara, you still get the feeling of an imperial city. Buildings may be a little neglected, like any city in Romania, but you can imagine how they would shine a century or two ago. If you like city breaks, aim for a weekend in December so you fully enjoy the Christmas market as well. When looking for great food at really great prices aim for "Yugoslavia" restaurant, a testimony to the Romanian/Serbian ethnic mix of Timisoara. When looking for attractions off the beaten path aim for the Museum of the Communist Consumer, a cosy bar with an exhibition going back in time to decades of Communism in Romania. And don't forget to take advantage of the old trams running through town, for 0.50 euros a trip you can rest your feet and enjoy a panoramic city tour (tickets can be bought at any newspaper stand close to the stations) Isolated from main tourist areas in central Romania by old road infrastructure, Timisoara and all of the province of Banat is easy to reach via a dozen low cost companies operating at Timisoara airport. Timisoara is really the little "Vienna" of Romania.

Timisoara is a beautiful city which is still undergoing a big refurbishment and looks more beautiful every year (my first trip there = 2013). During the last year they have set up toilets and small piers with benches along the Bega Canal, which makes walking along this long canal a very pleasurable moment. There are more cafes. I must say they are also becoming more expensive. The Art museum is an awesome building, host to an interesting collection of Romanian paintings (Cornelius Baba). However the Banat museum is still closed for refurbishment. There are two large markets which deserve to be seen.

Is a beautifull but small city, one or two days is enough to see everyting. The local people was a little bit rude with us and not too much people understand/ talk english or spanish. It's difficult to find how to pay the public transport. There is no machines (tickets avaiable in some shops) but once you find it it's cheap. Everithing in general is cheap there and in a lot of places is possible to pay by euros (not with card though). The most beautifull places were the metropolitan cathedral and the piata unirii. I would also recommend the comunist consumenrs museum and the banat village museum.

City center with architecture is great, the museums are renovated, there are lots of pubs, restaurant, terraces, many cultural events (check calendar), concerts. A nice experience is to have a one hour trip on the river Bega with the hydro-bicycle (30 lei, approx 7 EUR). However the museums are all closed during public holidays, so plan your visits wise! You can rent a car and visit the surrounding Banat villages on the route to Lipova.

Fascinating city, nice squares, buildings, restaurants etc. Easily walkable. Where the 1989 revolution started, and redolent of those historic events. We also did a great trip into the Banat countryside with Timisoara City Tours.
